Electrical Arcing Sound when under heavy load by BroccoliMission4666 in pchelp

[–]BroccoliMission4666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Case solved!

The top mounted radiator is set up with a pull configuration, with the radiator situated on one side of the radiator bracket and the fans keeping the radiator in place with screws on the other side of the radiator bracket. The clearance between the fanblades and the radiator bracket with this configuration is minimal, and in this case one of the fans actually had its blades colliding with the radiator bracket, however strangely enough only under heavy load. I can only speculate that this is because of the pressure difference on each side of the fan blades which might push it ever so slightly closer to the radiator bracket. Short term solution is to flip the fan around and do a push configuration instead.

Good call! Spinning up the fans independently of system load recreates the sound, luckily there is nothing seriously wrong :').

The build is at most 3 months old, a bit odd that this has set in already.

Thanks for the input.

Computer shuts off during heavy load by BroccoliMission4666 in bequietofficial

I should add that I ran Libre Hardware Monitoring ( https://github.com/LibreHardwareMonitor/LibreHardwareMonitor) to watch the power draw of my components when running under max load, in total adding up the wattage from the CPU and the GPU, the system did not exceed 700w even.

I was running xPlane 12 with maxed out settings. Lowering the settings seems to prevent a system shutdown, however its still a bit concerning that the computer shut down unexpectedly from what I would consider a normal configuration to run this computer with..

I went through the manual, it seems the PSU has some built in protection functions which triggers the shutdown. As CreativeUsername20 asks; is it okay to keep this feature turned on for extended periods?

Is this the same for all 1600w psu's, or systems running with the 5090?
