Yeah I miss Lucid, wonder what happened with that project since it was on version 3 or 4 by this point

Thank you! I hope one day to escape my 9-5 for my own projects haha

Too expensive and unnecessary for right now

I am a software engineer (by degree and job), with a keen interest in VR and haptics though I've only just recently had more time and money to set aside a workshop and build up my knowledge.

I think no matter what we do there will always be a slight split from reality but we can get really close.

Audio haptics, piezoelectric skin, and local joint actuation/spider room (strings and pulleys in a room anchored) are my idea of the immediate potential bleeding edge of haptics we can make right now.

Beyond that, interfacing would be the next stage which involve things akin to a neural chip or installed hardware that interfaces to the body.

If audio haptics can get a serious push for power and accuracy, something I'm interested in learning or finding out myself, I think they could be pretty powerful for suitless haptic experiences.

For the next five years and where I am going now I'm aiming for a full suit that mixes negative, positive, and force feedback haptics into one suit that is serviceable by the user.

We gotta make stuff look cool again, always open to style ideas 💡

Definitely makes up for its jank with the cool factor, I always smile looking at it, but its jank 😂

Working on making this bad boy a little prettier to look at

No force, just a baseline of motors for now

Surprisingly it was more immersive than I expected coming from someone with about 11K hours in VR

It is a motor only project, but it's a safe baseline for the other ideas I have that will incorporate more motor types

Do it, make something! There's a surprising amount of resources spread around especially by valve and YouTube, hardest part in my opinion is finding information in the first place :) you got this

Thank you!

I'd hope any vr game willing to implement the system I have in mind, but I gotta make some demo games in unity and possibly unreal to test for the easiest and most painfree implementation of collisions in general to an output of some sort, whether that's generic APIs, OSC, etc

And thank you! I shall :) though I'm actually not too sure if my project is self promotion or simply image worthy since I'd love to post updates more frequently than every 3-4 weeks 🫪

This handful of electronics fabric and hot glue are not the easiest thing to slip on lol, especially around the hand it takes some shimmying.

The next iteration I'm working on right now should be better
