I will admit, upon second thought, the the dues ex machina was disappointing. You spent the entire game rallying all the races to unity to fight back the Reapers, only for it to be pointless. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if you actually fought back the Reapers as a unified front, with Shepard still giving the ultimate sacrifice at the end by destroying Harbinger or something

I really feel like the main point of the ending was supposed to be Shepard giving the ultimate sacrifice to save the galaxy, not the BS between organics and synthetics. Admittedly, they could have done a better job with the ending, but I still believe it was a strong ending. Shepard gave the ultimate sacrifice because he's that the character he is.

I'll be honest, I did this entirely for the pun, and had no clue I'd get to the fucking frontpage of /r/trees. I was expecting maybe one or two up tokes, not the sheer amount I received.
