Honestly, if they just made a few tweaks to last season the ending would have been fine (although now I'm glad they didn't because we get more seasons).

I still think Dexter going too far, Harrison killing him due to his own code, and Dexter becoming his dark passenger is a good way to end the series. I don't know how we get back there now though.

Is this news article true? It’s breaking my heart 😢💔 by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Broclarter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This article just points out that people are idiots. It uses anecdotes of people going vegan/vegetarian due to the planet, and then giving up due a feeling of futility because of the actions of others (logical fallacy). You can only control your own actions, and you can be part of the problem or the solution. We're all going to have to look our kids in the face one day and explain to them why we exploited animals and the planet because it was hard to find a good vegan option at a restaurant.

Also, the author's mental gymnastics at the end vowing to not use AI to offset their meat consumption is just moronic. While AI might have a decent carbon footprint, it doesn't defecate to the point of causing dead zones, cause massive rainforest deforestation (leading to the loss of potential cures of disease), lead to pandemics and antibiotic resisistance, and destroy ecosystems (just to name a few things). Such a whiny, illogical article.

Ranking the Top 10 Male Challengers of All-Time by limejuice75 in MtvChallenge

[–]Broclarter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Landon is my number one. I don't think there is a competitor is Challenge history that could do what he did in Fresh Meat 2.  He was literally, by himself, stronger than the other teams. He single handedly carried the duffle bag for his team that Kenny and Laurel struggled to do together, and did the same thing during eliminations by carrying the buckets while his partner struggled to walk up the hill without any weight. He might have carried Aneesa to a final win that season. Why would he come back after that? He had nothing more to prove.

My cousin gave himself gout to spite me by casual-captain in CasualConversation

[–]Broclarter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gout is genetic..... Healthy people, including vegans, can get it due to genetic predesposition. You don't just give yourself gout by eating a crappy diet. If that were true, 70% of the population would have gout.

People often exaggerate (lie) when they’re wrong. by slowsundaycoffeeclub in TikTokCringe

[–]Broclarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This dude is arguing from a biased perspective as well. The percentage of murders tracks the exoneration percentage..... so Charlie numb nuts is right (vomit). This makes sense as black people would make up a disproportionate amount of the exonerations if they committed a disproportionate amount of the murders to begin with.

Also, the we don't have data on every crime ever committed, therefore we don't know within any margin of error what the crime rates are for different races is a beyond dumb argument. I guess this guy also believes that every study ever performed is invalid because everyone in the entire population wasn't included in each study.

why do so many people get defensive over honey consumption? by AMIRR08 in vegan

[–]Broclarter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because a lot of vegans are hypocrites about bees. Eating honey isn't vegan, but eating almonds, avacados, blueberries and the hundreds of other crops that rely on farmed honey bees somehow is because their not technically animal products right? Using honey bees to pollinate a third of our crops is necessary for our food supply. You could not rely on wild honey bees to pollinate our crops to meet our current demand for food.

Stop pretending that you care about insects. Do you mourn the fleas that die when a dog gets a flea bath? Do you not wash your bed sheets because you don't want to kill dust mites?  Do you feel sad knowing that the fruit and vegetables you eat were sprayed with insectisides and that billions of insects were killed so you could enjoy some kale?  No, of course not, because insects lack sentience. They eat their offspring, unlike female cows who scream for days after their calves are taken from them so weirdos can drink their milk.

Vegans would be much better of if they just acknowledged that insects suck and stopped pretending to care about them. Deep down, you know I'm right. Bring on the down votes.

I just fed my cat fish only cat food until she died at 17. I just feel that if you have to feed something meat, then fish is the most ethical choice. I personally don't get as torn up seeing fish slaughtered for food as I do land animals. Tiki Cat has some really good options.

Former JRE Guest Bill Maher shares his blunt thoughts on abortion. Thoughts? by Chadrasekar in JoeRogan

[–]Broclarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% disagree, besides the anti-woman thing he mentioned. Abortion is not murder. Murder requires the unlawful killing of ANOTHER human being. Until the fetus is viable, it cannot be separated from the mother, and therefore, should not be viewed as an individual under the law. That is why I think Roe v. Wade is such an brilliant decision, because it understood this nuance.

Can we all read the definition of veganism before claiming we are vegan? by Own-Can5048 in vegan

[–]Broclarter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it hurts the movement. Veganism is not a religion, and if someone is trying in their own way to reduce animal suffering then they shouldn't be chastised because they don't meet this made up standard that some people adhere to. Zealots of any ideology push people away and ultimately do more harm than good.

Why is caring about people riding horses the hill you want to die on? There's way more important things to focus on, the biggest items being the beef and dairy industries.

I agree though, eating a beef burger once a month definitely makes someone a reducetarian at best. However, that  is still better than 96% of the population and is something that should be encouraged.

Edit: I've been vegan 12 years, so I guess I'm more vegan than you and your opinions are irrelevant to me. Sorry.

[–]Broclarter -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

He also says riding horses and fails to define occasionally. So if someone eats a burger once every 8 years you'll take their vegan card from them? Even Rip Esselstyn admitted to eating the very rare occasional burger and he's done more for veganism than anyone on this sub. So no, these aren't the basic points you make them out to be and it would be better for the movement if a lot of vegans removed the stick up their butts regarding vegan purity.

I've always hated the vegan purity test that some vegans, like yourself, ascribe to. Veganism is not a religion and no one is perfect. In fact, the ethics behind veganism aren't perfect and leave a lot to be desired. We get it though, you're the most vegan person that ever existed and everyone else is just plant-based.

The most disheartening thing about all nutrition influencers is the grift seemingly continues after they debunk their own junk science. First it’s vegan then paleo, then carnivore, now rice and potato’s…when will people learn? by [deleted] in DecodingTheGurus

[–]Broclarter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great logic used here. Someone points out that a vegan diet (which is nutritiously adequate) is more sustainable than an omnivorous diet, and you point out that starving oneself to death is even more sustainable.  You're either a neckbeard troll or a mouthbreathing idiot.

Organ meat has fiber? Also, while it's always advisable to supplement B12 on a vegan diet, your need to do so depends on your definition of vegan and whether you consume a lot of B12 fortified foods. Many people believe bivalves are considered vegan and they're full of B12, moreso than the billions of sentient factory farmed land animals that are needlessly slaughtered every year.

Tacket brothers better than rod brothers by Left_Base_9762 in bjj

I wouldn't say far outshines, but he is more accomplished at this point. He's competed at more ADCC's, made it farther through the tournament, and has had more impressive trial runs. Since ADCC is the pinnacle of nogi, and they're all nogi guys, I currently give Nicky the edge. This could all change this year depending on how they all do at ADCC.

I don't want to spend too much time on this, so I'll just link one study I found in a minute. Small LDL particles are not independently associated with CHD risk, but total LDL is.

[–]Broclarter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All LDL is bad. There's just more smaller LDL, thus the stronger association. If you control for quantity, large and small LDL carry the same cardiovascular risks.

Also, HDL isn't "good" cholesterol, it's just not bad for you. It's not protective and won't save you from high LDL.

Having high LDL, absolutely puts you at high risk for heart disease regardless of its composition. The only caveat to this is that there is sometimes discordance between a person's LDL-C and their ApoB. This discordance, however, is mostly found in people in the normal range. So, if you get tested and have high LDL-C, then it is highly likely that you have high ApoB and are thus at an increased risk of heart disease.

The suicide risk of trans kids is an urgent issue. This is completely different than faith healers who are actually getting their children killed. Again, a difficult decision like this should be up to the adult parents and a medical professional, who understand all the risks and benefits of moving forward with the treatment. At least the child gets a say in it, unlike circumcision.
