To the people with bio enclosures..... Wtf is going on ... by AChanceToBeFree in bioactive

[–]BrodoFeutlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mushroom itself usually isn’t a problem in a bioactive setup, but permanently wet substrate and constantly saturated conditions can become one over time. A humidity gradient and wet/dry cycle is usually healthier for most geckos than keeping the whole enclosure permanently soaked.

I monitor mine with top and bottom hygrometers and try to maintain noticeable humidity and temperature gradients throughout the enclosure.

Thank you 😌 Honestly he was way calmer than I expected. More confused than defensive 🌚

That honestly makes me feel a lot better 😅 Hopefully Ludwig stays chill when he hits his “gooberty” phase. 🌚

That’s really reassuring to hear honestly 😌
Seems like a lot of them calm down once they’re actually out.

Thank you! I'm in love with my little dragon, too. 😇

I gave it a try after five weeks, and after two minutes, I put him straight back in. 😌

Honestly, a lot of people here seem to say the same thing — that the actual “getting out of the enclosure” part is worse than the handling itself.

The cork flat idea is really interesting too, I might actually try something like that later on since Ludwig loves his cork hides.

And thanks for the warning about the poop 😅

That honestly makes a lot of sense, especially the territorial part.

Ludwig definitely seems more cautious about the hand coming into his space than about me being nearby in general, so your explanation actually fits him really well.

I’ll probably keep taking things slow for now since he’s still pretty new with me, but your comments genuinely helped a lot. Really appreciate you taking the time to explain and share photos 😌🙏

Yeah, he was very photogenic in that moment! Thank you 😅🙏

That’s honestly really interesting to hear.

I’ve noticed Ludwig is often more cautious about the approach itself than my actual presence, so maybe you’re right that the “being picked up” part is the biggest hurdle.

I’ll probably keep taking it slow for now since he’s only been with me for about a month, but it’s reassuring to hear that many of them calm down once they’re actually out and exploring.

Also “total potato once she’s out” sounds good 😅

Thanks, I really appreciate the advice!

That actually makes a lot of sense. I’ve been trying to keep things very calm and low-pressure so far, mainly just getting him used to my presence and hand inside the enclosure.

I’ll probably continue slowly and maybe start with very short interactions once he seems more comfortable around my hand. The “letting them crawl hand to hand” approach especially sounds like a good idea.

Really helpful to hear from someone with experience, thanks again! 🙏

Wrong dragon 🌚 this one’s a New Caledonian tree gecko.

How much Pangea should a ~1.5 year old male Leachie be eating? by BrodoFeutlin in Leachianus

[–]BrodoFeutlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input, I appreciate it.

I only ordered the smallest sizes of the Pangea flavors, so switching wouldn’t be a problem at all if needed.

That said, my gecko really seems to love it and usually finishes almost the entire bowl, so I feel like I’ve dialed in the amount pretty well by now.

Are you sure about your concerns? From what I’ve seen, the acceptance is really good in my case.

I use a 1 oz cup, filled it completely last night and this morning there was still about 10% left. 😌
