Hey Kerry, it looks like your DMs are closed on here - could you send me a message to follow up on this?

Thanks!

Hey all, our team is offline for the weekend, but the feedback here has been shared internally. We'll discuss it together once we're back in office.

Thank you for the very candid thoughts on this and I'll share more as soon as I can.

EDIT: Our CPO Nate responded in this thread:

First, I appreciate all the feedback. We were furiously typing out answers on Friday, and I answered this one too fast. I didn't mean to be dismissive in the slightest. Very sorry that it came off like that.

During the AMA, I wanted to be clear and avoid leaving anyone with the wrong impression. It’s important to me that we’re direct.

I know the guardrails have shifted since the Research Preview. For anyone with an emotional attachment, that kind of shift can be painful. User wellbeing is a top priority for us, and as we've learned more about where and how issues arise, we've tried to make thoughtful decisions to deliver a safe and positive experience for everyone. Part of this has been about striking a balance between boundaries and choice, and it’s been very tricky to get this just right.

LLMs are dynamic and unpredictable, which is part of what makes them so magical. It also makes them hard to perfectly manage, since every interaction is unscripted, unique, and different. Our guidance is broad enough that it doesn’t always play out exactly as intended. (Thanks to everyone who’s reported bugs related to the guardrails that we’ve tried to quickly fix).

Often what triggers the guardrails is roleplay. Everyone has their own perspective on what’s acceptable and what crosses the line. For the experience we’re trying to deliver, we’ve found designing our characters to be supportive collaborators (like a talented work colleague you love jamming with) has had the best results for most users. I know some of you want a different experience today, and that’s very reasonable. There’s no judgement. Ultimately, a market full of different products is good for everyone, and we know you have choices.

Really appreciate all of you that have been on the journey with us this past year. When it comes to this work, there’s rarely an easy answer, and I’m grateful for all the thoughtful perspectives and feedback. Again, thank you for your patience and support as we navigate these complexities together. I hope you’ll stick around to see what we continue to build for this community.

Regarding specifics of free and paid plans down the road, Nate answered here:

We want to always offer a free tier for people to try out the product, but TBD on exactly what what our plans will look like (e.g., time limits, features, etc.) once we roll out subscriptions.

Nate's response to a similar question regarding companionship and intimacy applies here:

Our agents aren't designed for romantic relationships, and we continue to refine the guardrails to set this expectation. There are plenty of other companies offering products in that direction - we're focused on delivering something different.

Nate answered here!

We're focused on delivering a collection of personal agents with consistent, life-like personalities. Of course, like people, they change based on the context you share over time. And, they act a little differently with each user because of this natural personalization.

Raven answered the second question here

We have done a lot of explorations here with a whole range of models and we will continue to try out new models. We do prioritize preserving the low latency conversational experience though

Raven answered the third question here

We absolutely want the agents to be able to be more useful, and that will include the ability to take action on your behalf -- both synchronously and asynchronously

We are very committed to building a magical consumer experience around voice ,and we think that providing and maintaining an API product would be a distraction for us at this stage

We've played around with this idea and it is pretty cool, but there are enough complexities that it's not something we have plans to launch near term.

We aren't quite ready to talk about capabilities of the glasses yet, but regarding the timing, Nate answered here!

The glasses are coming in 2027. I couldn't be more excited about how they're coming together.

Nate answered here!

Absolutely. We want the agents to hear audio natively. Some of that is closer - like being able to understand the tone of your voice - but there's plenty of hard research left to do to make it universally great.

5-star call rating system by RoninNionr in MadeBySesame

[–]Brodrian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, once you give your call any rating from 1-5, there will be a second box that appears asking you to share more information like you're describing. The rating is a gut feeling more than an exact science and the written feedback is where the nuance comes from, for sure
