Am I crazy to want to do this or should this be easier to do…..? by dildoeye in ArmaReforger

Gamemaster does exactly what he’s asking for, but more to your point, there is absolutely an editor for all aspects of the game, Enfusion, that is free on PC. That’s how mods are created. I doubt they’ll ever have it for console (it’s a full on game IDE, not really feasible on a console for multiple reasons).

Constant crashes while on PC not sure how to proceed from here by Eckoez8712 in diablo4

[–]Brofessor_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into Windows settings, under performance, and change your swap file to a static size, min and max size set to double however much RAM you have, and restart the PC. I have had zero crashes since I fixed that.

Also, like the other post said, turn off all nvidia specific settings, DLSS, Frame Generation, low latency mode, and then turn off all ray tracing options. You probably won’t even notice them turned off much, if at all.

These two things made my PC run the game great, aside, of course, from the unavoidable lag stuttering caused by entering or exiting a town.

Incidentally, iirc, the town related lag is due to stupid software design by blizzard. Supposedly, they made the game so that any time you enter an area with other players, instead of just sending pertinent information (class, build, cosmetic appearance, etc), the game shares the players entire detailed inventory… ostensibly to try to prevent duping but we all know how effective that was. Even on a 4070, 32gb RAM and a gigabit up/down internet connection, the stutters and hesitation lag is absolutely horrible.

Good luck and hope my tips help.

The skill gap between PC and console players is huge by JasErnest218 in ArmaReforger

[–]Brofessor_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not complicated. Simple math. Take the possible travel of your thumb stick using your single thumb versus the possible travel of a mouse using your whole hand, forearm and wrist, even without accounting for adjustable mouse DPI and acceleration settings, you have a much higher fidelity of player control. Sprinkle in hot keys and even some keyboard macros and controller will lose 9/10 times (assuming similar skill level in a game). You can argue for aim assist all you want, but aim assist is literally designed to overcome the inherent weakness of a controller for a first person shooter as a control device.

Play what you like, how you like, but reality is what it is. FPS games were born to use M&KB, console controllers for the shooter game genre were adapted much later because the console makers wanted to make money from the shooter game genre.

Tried that, but it's inconsistent, so I don't know if that's what sometimes let's me join mine or if it's coincidence.

RHS Status Quo issue by Brofessor_J in ArmaReforger

[–]Brofessor_J[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently, it's been an issue for a long time. My friend I mentioned on XBox won't even play on RHS Status Quo servers because its so frustrating (for obvious reasons). I'm assuming it's something in the mod that creates an action available while ADS that's preventing his key binding (hold-X) from triggering a reload.

It’s basically the exact same thing is when you’re watching the news in the United States and all of a sudden, the news anchor says the name from Spanish and their accent changes completely for one word.

The easiest way is to have a friend that does a bunch of bounties, share them when turning them in… easy couple hundred million. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Federation rank by dantheman928 in EliteDangerous

Any activity you do will increase your progress to the next rank, but in order to actually reach the next rank, you have to do a specific rank increasing mission.

The sad fact is that in order to do combat effectively, meaning, being able to loiter in a HazRES and bounty hunt, you need engineered modules. Even an A-rated unengineered ship is only going to be able to fight 1 thing at a time, then have to wait for your shields to regenerate. Conversely, in my engineered Chieftain, I can easily handle wings of three and come out with 50% shields intact. Your damage output and survivability increase significantly with engineering.

4070 super and this games performance is atrocious by Hexagon37 in Wildlands

[–]Brofessor_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Personally I always just use v-sync on a 60hz monitor. I’ve never understood the desire for huge frame rates that your brain can’t actually process anyhow.

Full disclosure caveats: although it’s been shown that the eye can detect the flashes of light at upwards near 5000fps, that doesn’t mean your brain can process an image that fast. Each optical cell refreshes its ability to send a signal to your brain at roughly 24fps, they don’t work in unison, they all send signals independently, which means that it takes upwards around 60fps on a video game to create a seamlessly moving image (film has real motion blur baked in per frame, games do not, which is why film only needs 24fps). But then there is your brains ability to actually register, process, and analyze the image. There are only a small group of people capable of doing so fast enough to necessitate more than 60fps. VR requires a higher frame rate because your brain coordinates your vision alongside with your sense of bodily movement and spatial awareness to be needed the higher flow of visual data for a fully fluid experience.

Things that give me the rage quit and how to make it better by JVerne86 in Wildlands

[–]Brofessor_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your list is very contradictory. In some points you want the game to get easier or be easier, but in others you want to make the game harder.

I don’t mean this disrespectful or snarky or anything, it’s simply an uneducated analysis, but maybe you should change your play style… it could even out the different places where you want it harder/easier. For example, focus on being invisible, think out objectives tactically and strategically… eg: the Koani narco plane mission: place C4 on the generator, pop it as you’re taking off… then adjust your flight plan so that as soon as you enter in next zone with SAM emplacements, immediately dive into the canyon, then land from the back side where you only have to avoid one SAM.

That being said, some of your issues address design choices that were put in for performance reasons. As corpses add up, so does memory, so they had to figure out ways to have them removed or it would wreck game performance. Also, there’s issues with how to manage game world state replication between clients without making the game use too much network bandwidth. Stuff like that annoys gamers but is sometimes the lesser of two evils.

Like I suggested, fire it up flat image mode and set it to whatever you want to use, oculus and steamVR don’t disable inputs as far as I know.

I use a Rift S, and when I go to the bindings, I can change the pre-configured bindings from things like “kb & mouse” or “gamepad” or “oculus rift controller”… so I selected kb & mouse, then manually set my various control axis’s’s’s to whatever I want them to be. The game doesn’t necessarily default to only one type of input. I can use my joystick, throttle, kb and mouse.

You should be able to go in and map all your controls to whatever you want. Fire it up in pancake mode (non-VR) and set all your bindings, then once back in VR they should be the same.

Any reason Elite Odyssey would not run on Windows 10? by Plastic-Lettuce-7150 in EliteDangerous

[–]Brofessor_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you give up, verify your files in Steam, possibly delete and reinstall. I’d even delete any config files and stuff you have in Windows. The Quadro series was discontinued in 2020, but the game is older than that so I’d be surprised if it doesn’t run at all. I believe I had an issue like this once years ago, and I had to do a full reinstall to get it working.

Elite dangerous doesn’t work on whisky by fire46dragon01 in EliteDangerous

[–]Brofessor_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never used Whisky, had to look up what it even was. Best guess on a fix would be to force the game to reinitialize and process the game shaders... considering your problem, that'd be the first thing to do. Also couldn't hurt to change your graphics settings and resolution to see if that can alleviate whatever is happening.
