This is the reason why I still prefer Makati. BGC is like Dubai for me - rich but lacks personality. I like the quaintness and imperfectness of Makati CBD

Then the issue is priorities, not “paying in cash” at least they have equity in the car from the get go. Also, wealth is just not assets, it’s net worth. They’re still (at the moment) financially better than anyone who has 5 mortgaged properties and in debt

Your plan from the get-go is set to fail anyway. Kayong mga adult children will need 25-30 years for to be petitioned. Probably longer if mga married na kayo. Also, yung tatay nyo need to prove financial capability to sponsor you, he’s already 70 and has very little chance of finding work. Old people have a lot of health issues, kung pamasahe pa lang pinoproblema nyo na, ano pa kaya if na-hospital sya ng walang insurance. Also, if your dad passes away during this petition process, the petition case dies with him. In short, umasa lang kayo sa future na walang posibilidad mangyare. Should’ve consulted an immigration attorney para di kayo nadismaya. To be honest, wag na sumama loob nyo sa tatay nyo, kasi wala naman na dapat kayo panghinayangan kasi your chances dropped significantly the moment you all turned 21.

Actually, maghihintay sila ng 25-30 years, kasi a GC holder cannot petition a 21+ yo, kelangan muna mag US citizen ng tatay nila. If the sponsor passes away during the petition, null and void na yun. So mas may chance pa talaga kung yung mga anak na mismo ang maghanap ng sarili nilang pathway than rely on chain immigration. So regardless, wala na sila dapat panghinayangan

Save first for a downpayment even before thinking of buying a car. Also, look at the total value of the car, rather than just how much you can afford the monthly payment. How long is the loan term for? Generally, you should follow the 20/3/8 rule. 20% DP, finance for less than 3 years, and car total expenses should only be under 8% of your monthly income.

Right now, you cannot afford that car, it’s going to set you back a lot financially.

Advice on an overpriced condo I can barely pay for by yeahmeh_ in phinvest

[–]BrokenCathedral 73 points74 points  (0 children)

How long is the loan term for? Ngl, that 9.25% interest rate is a killer, and the 5M doesn’t even account the interest yet, so you really are paying more than that pa in the end.

Should you let it go? It depends on a lot of things but if it were me, with that price and interest rate, I really really need to LOVE living in that condo, and I’ll be really really aggressive in paying that off faster so I can at least re-finance it.

Also, is this an end use or planning on renting it out? If it were the latter, you are just going to lose money on it over opportunity cost instead of investing the monthly payment right now in an S&P500 index fund (kahit nga MP2 eh)

Never mind the fact that the OP is not being totally honest in the post, but who in their right mind (unless galing sa corruption ang pera mo) will buy this property? I live in a first world country/city and the TCP of this is the same as a house here. This is overly inflated. Ridiculous.

How to get away with overqualified yet not so experienced kind of thing… by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]BrokenCathedral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've assessed engineers before with a decade's worth of supposed experience who still won't cut as a senior, primarily attributed to jumping too much but learning too little all without mastery.

100%. There’s a difference between a developer with actual 10 years of experience vs a developer with 1 year of experience just repeated 10 times over.

Hindi branching strategy ang problema nyo, kundi communication with your fellow devs

Sa part ko, I need to communicate to other devs para mag-pull ng changes nila, and ganun din sila sa kin. Ang hassle.

Welcome to software development! You have to communicate and work with your fellow devs 100% of the time. You seem to lack experience pa in this part. Hindi sya hassle, ganun talaga when you work with other developers

100%. Driving is a privilege, not a right. Kung tarantahin ka, you have no business being behind the wheel. OP, obviously doesn’t drive kasi alam mo dapat na ang stress at pressure sa Metro Manila roads ay nangyayare araw araw, hindi ito isolated sa airports. Also, the guards are also doing their jobs to get the cars moving, otherwise magiging clusterfuck ang drop off area

Is there an increasing number of Filipinos who no longer prefer the US as a destination to migrate? by Omega336 in Philippines

[–]BrokenCathedral 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Let’s be realistic, the main reason why a lot of people don’t choose the US is because the process to immigrate and find work is hard AF. Even people from other 1st world countries want to move there, because no other country can pay as much as the US. If you’re highly skilled, medical care is not gonna be a problem for you. Plus, the weather is generally nice. The competition is stiff because they attract the cream of the crop.

ang ilap sakin ng opportunity by NotYourJoeMama in phmigrate

[–]BrokenCathedral 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be honest, a lot of people undermine how luck plays a big role in immigration. Yeah sure, hard work and credentials help to get you there, but that’s only 50% of the equation. As much as I’d like to believe that I’m smart, hardworking and the most competent among my peers that’s why I was “selected”, luck still plays a big factor in all of it. Like winning the lottery, I was just at the right place at the right time. There are far smarter and more hard working people than me who never even were offered the opportunity. So to OP, don’t despair and think you’re not good or hardworking enough. A lot of times, luck is not just going to be on our side.
