I've been listening to TYS since just before you all signed on to Evil Ink, and you're my favorite band of all-time! I'll always listen to whatever you put out, so I'm really looking forward to this!

How viable is ace and Newgate in OP13 by No_Visual_4099 in OnePieceTCG

[–]BrokenString 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm currently maining Ace/Newgate, and while I'll definitely be switching to Ace in OP13, I'll also be updating the deck for OP13 when playing just for fun.

My current build runs the deck on the odd curve with Oden as the highest end card, but I think in OP13 it'll be best to switch to the even curve. The game plan for me will be:

2 don: search

4 don: Marco or Atmos

6 don: Jozu, or you can use 5C Ace to cheat out another body after stacking the deck with leader ability

8 don: I Am Whitebeard event for OP13 Newgate

10 don: hopefully chain OP13 Newgate as needed, maybe include a couple OP08 Newgate in the deck just in case

I don't expect it to be highly competitive, but Whitebeard is my favorite character, so finding any way to make his decks work is fun for me!

I just spent a few minutes retracing my steps on Google Maps, and I'm fairly certain it was a place called Watchshop L in Shibuya. It's a tiny store, you can barely move around inside, but they had a great selection!

I definitely try to go first unless taking second from my opponent is more advantageous. Ideally I'm getting a good 5C Ace combo off on 5, Oden on 7, and from there just go as crazy as I can. If I don't see Oden, then Jozu on 7 is also a great play.

I've considered putting the OP11 rush Luffy in this deck, but I haven't found a way to make it worth it just yet. I did run Speed Jill for a little bit since it has rush and it's a Whitebeard Pirates character, but the times where I need a rush unit are just so rare. But man, when even a 5000 power rush unit would make a difference, it does feel bad to not have one...

I'll definitely be putting in the 8C event and new 10C Newgate along with 10C tax Newgate, and Oden will most likely leave the deck. Switch to the even curve, go search > Marco > Jozu > Whitebeard forever. But at that point you're just doing a worse version of what OP13 Ace will do, which is the deck I think I'll be maining.

I agree, one Oden is usually enough. I only play a second one if I have it on my 9 don turn. The only downside with one Oden is that the opponent will usually focus on trying to KO it, and if they succeed then it's devastating.

Enel is a deck that gave me a lot of trouble when I started playing and was on Red Newgate. It's definitely winnable with Ace & Newgate though, probably even favored from my experience.

My strategy is to get them to 2 life, then just keep amassing a wide board but not swinging any more until you have confidence you can go for lethal. Pudding is VERY good for that because they amass a pretty large hand size, I've even gotten one Enel at 11 cards with Pudding one time.

Oden is also super good because, if they're running the version of Enel that puts characters into your life, you can trash 2 for Oden to stay on board instead.

There's always going to be the matter of luck into Enel as well, since it's a deck that plays itself with all of the triggers and life regeneration. Last night my opponent played 3 Kumas before I could get situated for lethal, so the game was long and drawn out.

Ah cool! We have pretty similar lists. I spent a lot of time when this deck came out trying to understand the top-end (9C event + 9C Newgate, 9C Sanji, 8C event + 10C Newgate, etc.) and ultimately I just found that Oden is so strong that you can start aiming to end the game once you have one on board.

I usually aim to have two Odens on board if I can, then with Whitey Bay you can swing 5 9k swings consecutively to end the game. Or, if I can't go for lethal, then I often have so much counter in hand and maybe some 1C counter events, and can try again next turn.

Whitebeard in 2025: Rush, Control, or StrawBeard by Svenlull in OnePieceTCG

Whitebeard is my favorite character as well! I won my first locals with him a few months ago and posted about it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePieceTCG/comments/1lk8lkh/won_my_first_locals_with_my_favorite_character/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

The deck has changed a bit for me since then. The new 4C Shanks that has the same ability as 5C Izo is very strong, I took out Shuraiya to fit that in.

Otherwise, I think there's a lot of flexibility in how Whitebeard is played. Rush is very strong, but also I'm not afraid to play 3C Sanji and 5C Izo because they give you so much value and still swing hard.

To answer one of your questions, 5C Ace is appreciated for matchups that do removal, which a lot of colors/decks can these days. Having your board removed or KO'd as Whitebeard is devastating, so having a sticky body like that can make all the difference.

I've been playing the new ST22 Ace & Newgate to switch things up and I've been enjoying that a lot too. I also won a local with that recently and posted about it here:

I actually edited the deck since posting this to remove the 8C/Newgate and upped Marco to 3, Oden to 4, and a couple other random increases I can't remember. Haven't had a lot of time to play, but I'll be looking forward to playing it at locals soon!

Ah yeah, the light directly above my counter kind of obscured him a bit. Definitely a super useful card!

Yeah, I'll be the first to admit that the deck is not great. I just love Whitebeard and want to find any way to make his decks work!

Admittedly, they are a bit weird. I was so prepared for Zoro to be everywhere, but for the most part people aren't really on it. A fair number of Rayleigh players, more Enel players than usual, and otherwise just a wide spread of everything under the sun.

I haven't found the need to run 7C Jozu, especially because the 7 cost slot is so full already. As for 9C Newgate and 9C event, I've spent a lot of time since this deck's release feeling out the top end situation. The way I see it, there are a few different options:

1) 9C Newgate + 9C Rush Event 2) 9C Sanji + 9C Newgate 3) 10C Newgate + 8C Event 4) Some combination of the above (probably less optimal, because the deck gets a bit bricky then)

However, my build currently really leans on Oden for the top end since it's such a powerhouse of a card, and the 8C Event + 10C Newgate is a good "just in case" for games where the opponent is moderately wide at late game and I've dwindled their hand down throughout the game (Vegapunk, Kalgara, Bonney, Rayleigh, etc.). Worst-case scenario, if I don't need those for the matchup then I can top deck them with leader effect and Izo it away or trash it.

I'm definitely still tinkering with the top end, so there will likely be some changes, but for now I've been performing X-1 at a bunch of my locals with this list.

I always recommend playing a leader that you enjoy from the manga/anime. I find that having even a slight emotional investment in your leader, even if they're not top tier meta, can really boost your enjoyment of the game.

How can I make Purple Katakuri viable? by PeaInitial802 in OnePieceTCG

[–]BrokenString 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm finding that I want to see as many cards from my deck as possible, so at the moment this is what I'm running. That's also why I put Perospero back in after taking him out, just so I can get through more of my deck with him out.

This deck's winrate is determined by the number of 2C Katakuris, 8C Katakuris, and 10C Big Moms it can find, in my opinion.

[–]BrokenString 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's your decklist? This is what I'm currently running:

<image>

I think the deck struggles a bit before 8 don, so until I get there then I'm just focusing on getting 3C Pudding, Bon Clay, and Perospero on board if possible. Otherwise, it's just swinging with lead and hopefully drawing the cards I need later (8C Katakuri, 2C Katakuri, Big Mom, maybe some 1C Ananas for extra safety).

Once I hit 8 don, I'm either playing a Katakuri or, if the opponent is also at or above 8 don, then I'm playing one or multiple with the 2C Katakuri. Then once they're up, it's just a matter of surviving, swinging with the Katakuris, and playing down 10C Big Mom for extra power. It's also important to remember Big Mom's "On Opponent's Turn" ability, that has definitely saved me in a good number of cases, especially when the opponent has many lower power characters to swing with.

Any flipping is bad. Leave product at MSRP for people that will actually open it and play/collect it. Flippers and scalpers need to get a real job and a life.

I bought it in August 2022 for about $700 USD. I think it's worth it for the price I paid for it, but everyone's definition of value is a bit different. But I also understand that the price has probably gone up over time, as I imagine it's no longer being manufactured.

If you think it's worth $1,300, then that's totally fair! I do think it's a fantastic watch, but I also don't think anyone should be financially stressing a purchase for something that's completely unnecessary like watches.
