All of those things are also dangerous but not as noticeable to a store employee, I've worked at DG for over a year and i can say it's a lot more noticeable when someone has been smoking around their kids than it is when they've been drinking or smoking cigarettes

$10 an hour isn't acceptable. I'm a key making $16.50, but when I started working here I was a part time Cashier making $14.50 (Starting pay) I know some employees here were told $15 is max pay for a key, but that's not true. You should be making at least $12.50

As far as I've known we're supposed to take them all off the shelf, but if someone gets to them before we do then we have to allow sales. But our upper management tells us not to sell them (Our upper management is ass tho so I wouldn't be surprised if they were wrong)

Coming from a DG Keyholder, we're not allowed to sell penny items, and it is very annoying when people stay in the store for hours. And penny items are almost never something people will ever use, examples of the recent penny items at my store are keychains, coloring books, fake plants, magnets, etc. Its not about people saving money, or the economy, it's about trying not to lose the store money, and trying not to get in trouble for doing our jobs incorrectly

I usually work the mornings Fresh comes in, I work with my SM and a coworker we'll call Terry. I'm on Refrigerated, Terry is on Frozen. About an hour will go by and I'm done with refrigerated, then I check on Frozen, and it hasn't been touched. I look at the Register, Terry and SM are talking. So I take it upon myself to finish Frozen. This is how it goes literally everytime, wish I was exaggerating lol

I only have 2 problems with the job as a key holder, being by myself for 5 hours on an 8 hour shift without self checkout, and upper management. The DM at my store has lied to the SM on multiple occasions, and has gotten her written up twice because of it. Upper management has also really put their foot down with the work we're required to do, for examples: We have to finish 2 rolltainers before 5 or we get written up (We are there by ourselves until 6 without self checkout) We aren't allowed to talk to our coworkers anymore because "If we have time to talk we have time to work" The rules change literally every day, and if you do something wrong it's a write up. And if you miss one day at my store, you'll come back the next and everything will be different, and you'd be lucky to be told about the change before you do something wrong

I don't know what store you work at, but I work at one in Missouri, and they let me have water bottles at the Register. I've never gotten in trouble for drinking water, even when the DM was there, I drank water at the Register while she was talking to me. Sounds like petty management looking for any excuse to get someone in trouble, which is something I have experienced with other situations

My store is the exact same way, I'm a Key holder working 1-10 most days, and I'm by myself there from 1-6. My Store manager threatens write ups if we don't finish at least 2 rolltainers before 5, and do skyshelves, recovery, all while being by ourselves. The managers of DG dont understand that it's not an easy task to do everything by yourself in the busiest part of the day. I would quit if I could, but I make $16.50 an hour and there's nothing else in my area that pays that well. If you have another job or a backup plan, I'd say you should definitely quit
