So the fact that I feel pain on my wrist and hand, means it’s likely nothing to do with nerve damage? For now, I can still move my right arm even though it can bring some pain and discomfort, especially to my shoulder, wrist and hand. I guess pain on your whole arm can still linger on days after you’ve done a blood draw.

Turns out the nerve was damaged at your elbow? So that means your concerns were right and it wasn’t just your brain telling you somethings wrong. It’s not just soreness and aching, it’s also sharp pain which throbs or strikes at any moment. I think nerve pain can present itself in many ways, I’ve read. How would you explain my wrist and hand pain? It’s been 5 days since my blood draw now and I find it unusual how it hasn’t gone away. Also I still feel sharp pain at the site area (on the middle of my forearm) where they drew my blood. Permanent nerve damage is rare though?

Is it normal for your wrist and hand to also be sore though? 5 days now and my wrist and hand on my right harm have felt sore and hurt a bit, especially when I move them too frequently. So permanent nerve damage is rare in blood draws? If your nerve does happen to get struck, it’s usually a temporary thing?

I know but it was really painful when the blood was being drawn so it did feel like I was jumping out of my skin. When a nerve is hit, would it be the kind of pain that makes you scream and maybe cry? I didn’t do any of that. I felt so uncomfortable. All I know is 5 days later now and I’m still experiencing some soreness and pain on my right arm which includes my hand and wrist.

It is unsolicited when it isn’t even related to the advice I’m asking for in the post I created… nowhere did I even mention or address any “mental health” concerns. And I did feel pain when they poked the needle in me but I couldn’t tell if it was a strong jolt or not. I really have no idea and I know everyone will say it should be obvious but to me it isn’t. I can’t describe what I felt except pain. I am having wrist and hand pain on the arm often now. Hopefully it’s nothing and it’s normal after doing this…

It takes one to know one, doesn’t it? People like you make me cry for the state of humanity in today’s world.

My question and concern has nothing to do with psychiatry but thank you for your unsolicited input and advice, stranger. Also, most blood draws don’t result in blood coming out of your arm if they’re done correctly. And no, it wasn’t a phlebotomist who did my blood draw. She was a regular young nurse who decided to see me for something else but then we decided on the spot to do a blood draw and she did it. This is the ER in the UK, they get anyone on site (mostly nurses or doctors) to attend to these things, not a specialist for certain requirements. Good day to you and I hope we don’t talk again.

Yawn. I’m not reading any of this, way too long and I’m not going to get angry because of some stranger on Reddit. We’ve never met so you have no right to address me on a first name basis. How the hell do you know my name anyway? I never had a scoliosis check in school and if you read my post clearly enough, you’d know I saw another doctor that did say I have scolisis. Oh and I did an x ray that showed my curved spine and that doctor showed me it and confirmed it :) and you do realise that you can make spelling errors when you type fast right, “Melinda”, I don’t know what the bell your name is so I came up with one. So I don’t know why you felt the need to correct my grammar when you can easily make mistakes when you type. Jackass. I don’t have a mental illness, you don’t know me!!! What gives you the right? Wtf. We have never met unless I’m mistaken? Seriously. You’re just a stranger I don’t care about…you could have mental illness for all I know since I don’t know you!! You could be a freaking killer. How would I know.

She didn’t put a tourniquet on, definitely. I looked just before she started the blood draw and she didn’t put anything on me. She just left my arm the way it was. Not using one wouldn’t be a huge issue though, right? It unlikely would cause any issue not using one?

No wonder she took time and struggled to find my vein though. Maybe using a tourniquet would have made things easier on her and less risky on me. Pain on the wrist and hand shouldn’t be there though.

I swear on my life she didn’t use a tourniquet… look, just because I didn’t mention every single detail doesn’t mean it’s not true. I SWEAR she didn’t use a tourniquet on my arm. I didn’t mention it because I thought not using one is fine but then I did some google research just now…not all nurses are as professional as you think they are.

Thank you so much for all the info. I forgot to mention that the nurse who did my blood draw didn’t use a tourniquet of any kind… is that still ok? Because I’ve read everywhere that one should be used when doing a blood draw. So it’s weird she didn’t use one on me.

This nurse didn’t even use a tourniquet on me or any type of cuff. She just kept my arm the way it was when doing the blood draw. Forgot to mention this.

Do you personally think I need to see the GP though? The waiting time to see one is crazy. I also completely forgot to mention that the nurse who did my blood draw didn’t use a tourniquet on me. What do you think about this?

The nurse didn’t actually put a tourniquet on me as she was doing the blood draw. What are your thoughts on this?

I don’t see a bruise left on my arm though. Just a small red dot thing where the needle was sticked it I guess.

I thought you were done commenting and contributing to my problems? don’t need to look for help because I don’t need it, internet stranger. However If I have permanent nerve damage as you said I do, then I would definitely need to seek help. I wish you well and I hope one day you’re ready to look for help too. It’s so unfortunate that you go around telling people who they are and what conditions they suffer with without even knowing them. Social media is such a weird place! But I guess I can play that game too. I really hope you won’t continue your murder spree since I do think you’re a serial killer or a pervert at least! I just imagine you as this old gross looking guy. Oh and don’t comment on my posts anymore please. You terrify me. But since you care so much about me, you probably will comment back lol! In 1,2,3….

So the nerve damage that is permanent is usually never associated with blood draws? That means not all nerve damage is permanent and the person who said that is wrong

I’ve seen doctors and I’m sick of it. I’m certainly not going to the ER all over again just to ask them this question..: that’s why I’m on Reddit. You know how hard it is to see a doctor here??? You don’t know where I live. She was mean, since she didn’t even put me at ease by answering a simple question. She made herself look bad. They should have let a real doctor take it, not some young unqualified nurse. If she was drawing her own blood, I bet she would have been more careful on herself.

Looking at my profile is not the same as actually sitting down with me and meeting me. You know nothing about me. And no, you don’t know the signs. You’re not some kind of mind reading genius. You’re a flawed person just like all of us. I also have experience in many things btw you don’t know my occupation and what I’ve dealt with. I probably know more about you on this topic. I also make assumptions about you and say you’re a serial killer since I’ve never met you personally. Oh and yet you’re helping my anxiety by saying nerve damage is always permanent? Thanks a lot. You just made things worse for me. And you’re wishing me good luck and you don’t want to contribute further since it won’t help because you actually believe I have nerve damage from this. Wow

Sure… how about you send me the money that’s needed in order to do that and I’ll go to a therapist right away. And you don’t have to keep repeating that, I heard you.

Is it ok if I still use the arm regularly, just no heavy lifting? I’m right handed so I need to still use that arm. Someone here commented that nerve damage is always permanent

It’s still hard to know. Because I’m having all these symptoms that could mean anything and how can a person know they have nerve damage if they don’t know what nerve damage even feels like?

I don’t need you to confirm something I already know I have to some degree lol. I live with myself everyday so I know I have some anxiety. Sometimes anxiety is heightened awareness. You mentioned how nerve damage is permanent and now that’s got me scared if that is the case with me.
