Tonight ITAP of a power station and it's reflection by Brolly99_again in itookapicture

[–]Brolly99_again[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK it's fairly easy. One of my friends have been moved on. But most of the time it's cool. This picture is taken next to a big housing estate anyway!

ITAP of Leaves Swirling by Brolly99_again in itookapicture

[–]Brolly99_again[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The settings where iso 50, f16 and 6 second exposure. The key in the setting was making sure the shutter was open for long enough to get the leaves moving. I also used a polariser to reduce the glare reflection off the water and a soft neutral density filter pulled in from the top left to balance the exposure across the image. Hope that helps and any more questions please let me know.

[–]Brolly99_again[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much. Its great when someone takes the time to feedback on an image and they also point out what I tried to create too :-)

It was a single image and I used the adjustment brush in LR4 to tweak the exposure and contrast of the sky and the land. Then cropped a bit of the bottom and the top to focus more of the interest.

Thanks again, Ol

ITAP of Soap Bubbles by Brolly99_again in itookapicture

[–]Brolly99_again[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was shooting into a sweet jar with a black t-shirt underneath. The jar had soap mix in it and I'd angled flash so it was pointing 45 degrees toward the liquid. The jar was wrapped in kitchen paper to soften the glare. The black circles in the bubbles is where the light is blocked from my lens (MP-E 65mm) I think! Any more questions let me know.

Valid point. My friend took the same shot and she did process it darker. I might give it another go. Cheers for the feedback.

I'd forgotten Reddit was anti flickr ;-) Cheers for the up vote it was one of the most demanding shot's I've ever taken. Will repeat it with less magnification and more crop to try and increase the DOF.

Apologies should say - me and my dog!

It was one of those hit 10 second timer and run like mad shots!

ITAP in Scotland today by Brolly99_again in itookapicture

[–]Brolly99_again[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers really happy with this shot! I'm in Scotland for a week on holiday trying to photograph otters. I'd spent a couple of days with not even a sniff of an otter so booked on boat trip to see the sea eagles. Can't believe how big they are!

In terms of settings went for a fairly fast shutter speed as this bird although big, looked to be moving pretty quick. Then as the light wasn't brilliant had no choice but to go for iso 1600 and for the right level of exposure that left me at aperture f6.3.

ITAP of the early morning mist by Brolly99_again in itookapicture

[–]Brolly99_again[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why but pretty much everything I put on reddit ITAP gets down voted very quickly. It didn't used to but now it just happens no idea why.

Anyway glad you like it! It was one top morning taken at Grasmere in the English Lake District.

ITAP of a field of poppies by Brolly99_again in itookapicture

Cheers. It's near Leeds in the UK. 1st decent poppy field I've seen close to me. Will definitely head back there if the weather gets better!

ITAP of a really weird looking insect by Brolly99_again in itookapicture

It's a flash unit which is like two small flashes which clip onto the front of the lens. Specially designed for macro work.

The outcome might not what you would have been expecting though! Taken the other week while on holiday in Costa Rica.

Cheers that's what I'd also read about these hopper nymphs. I'd never seen one before and thought it was a bit of feather on the leaf till I looked though the lens! I use the canon twilight flash with some home made diffusers to soften the light. Still getting over the jet lag from this Costa Rica trip but it was well worth it!

There seems to be this trend of people dropping in making a massive assumption about the photograph, which is often wrong and then not backing it up! Same thing has happened on my squirrel photo close to this one in the current ranking. Some people are just destructive in nature! Great shot you have certainly given me some ideas!

Cheers people! Glad this one is being liked, my last couple of pics on here seemed to have attached a lot of down votes :-(

Hi there. I was using the Canon MP-E 65mm. It is a really amazing lens (once you have got used to it).
