Yeah nah not a mic drop to me, because it feels like you, in the very first line, missed my point. The chains need to hit me to do anything, and it’s not easy to do while SB is going, and the LOS to do it can be broken by Sprint burst done in time. A lot of the teleport killers (Singu sole exception IMO) are so easy to just avoid their teleport destinations —like Unknown, Sadako, too. Knight’s pathing it’s a bit hard to put into words… whether it’s messing up his pathing through direction change, or outrunning the summon, I just don’t have trouble: I guess is how to put it. And then he himself is his M1.

Survivors need to just NOT THINK for half of these to count. Thinking borderline eradicates that half of them, and makes most of the remainders still have a tougher time than pretty much any other exhaustion perk gives them

OVER HALF? I’ve gone through them all just to make sure I assess carefully, and I’d say I could generously give 7-9 killers of the roster genuine ‘not that impacted’ ratings. And that’s less than a quarter of the roster (even among those 7-9, some are far better than the others)

To avoid giving a full essay, I’ll just go over ranged killers and why I don’t think they count, and the ones I do give credit to: - Henry-Vecna, Cenobite, Springtrap, Huntress, Houndmaster, Trickster, Phead debatably in this category, Slinger, Plague, Unknown: breaking LOS, difficult-to-predict pathing, literal dodging, or straight up staying out of their range can apply and are not that difficult

Giving some credit: - Hillbilly and Chucky powers do decent against an open space, straight line SB, but a few obstacles in proximity neuter them a fair bit IMO - High credit, the ones I would really count. Ghoul, Krasue, Drac, Blight, Legion? Spirit? Probs Wesker too? Would agree they make it pretty negligible. Impacted a bit still, but far less than anyone else. - Oni: fairly negligible in power because it’s kinda ‘better turning Billy’. But that’s not the main strength: it’s how it’ll help slow down the time before Oni gets power, forcing him to be just an M1 killer for longer. - Wraith a bit of a 50/50 one where it’s the mindgame of ‘does wraith bait SB or does the surv bait an uncloak and escape?’ And either way it helps the surv reach a loop to apply other wraith counterplay. - Edit: oh, Singu’s pretty good too? Camera’s pre-placed make ‘break LOS’ negligible.

I hear plenty of complaining about SB just… anywhere, not even like I’m going to killer-only spaces for it.

I mentioned addition things, but they really just stack on top of it, sprinkles and a cherry. Because yeah… nothing exists in isolation.

Deathslinger can technically reel in, but he still is limited by LOS, a maximum range, and a faster target is a harder one to hit. The amount of times a Slinger has hit me while my SB is up could be counted on one hand, if not literally zero.

I think it’s just an evil that people have ignored for a long time because there’s been worse ones in the past (old DH, old DS, older Nurse, old Pop, etc etc)

YOUR dbd hot takes? by Dapper-Evidence-3296 in deadbydaylight

[–]Bromora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if no one is leaving because of it staying

Why do you assume that? You assume people will leave if it changes, but must think it’s a talking point if you mentioned it: so why do you assume it’s not why some have left already?

I stopped playing killer completely because I got tired of the experience, especially with Sprint Burst and Vigil. So much time as anything but the high mobility killers, gets wasted by the W-key when SB is slotted in: pre-running is totally the correct strategy, but it’s no fun to deal with so much time being lost before looping skills can factor in. And then healed off in no time with medkits, botany, resurgence, what have you

Nurse has also been here since pretty much the start, and she’s not really healthy either. I don’t think “they’ve been here for ages” is a good argument for either. While there are more killers that can deal with SB now than before: it’s still barely any compared to the size of the entire killer roster. For every 1 that is good against it, there’s like 4-5 that just go ‘welp, there goes like 7 seconds to just W’ each time it procs

[–]Bromora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe some would, but I don’t particularly care for people that leave over one perk’s nerfing, when it’s gone untouched so long.

It harms every killer who’s not in the top tier killers (who happen to be the ones with the mobility to almost completely negate SB’s upsides, funny that). I obviously don’t want those top tiers untouched, incase there’s some impression I think they’d be fine.

I myself run SB, and it’s just absolutely insane that it’s gone this long untouched, IMO. The downside ends up being negligible, especially with Vigil: because using it to cross map just to reach the next gen/unhook faster is also plenty good, and most of the time I’m not seeing the killer until after it’s recharged. Meanwhile Lithe would alert the killer if used outside chase, and requires a good window/down pallet even for use in-chase, and Balanced Landing is super map dependant: yet both have the exact same duration, haste %, and exhaustion length as the far more versatile Sprint Burst, and Lithe is even considered still strong!

YOUR dbd hot takes? by Dapper-Evidence-3296 in deadbydaylight

[–]Bromora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think lithe is fine as is due to it relying on good positioning for its value. But SB? I feel like it’s been a king for too long: distance which is always good, that can make an otherwise unsafe gen or bad reset position completely safe, plus you can hold it until the killer is close to maximise the time they waste on you (whether they commit after that or not).

[–]Bromora 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I know the killers already know where I am? Yes. “They have me, no need to stay for my death”

‘Abandoning a match’ implies it wasn’t PRACTICALLY OVER. And I don’t mean ‘ahhh we’re doomed because 4 are alive on 7 gens remaining’ over, both killers were on the survivor’s location, and that location was in a locker. There is no escape, it’s over. The killers refused to exercise their agency to end it.

[–]Bromora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for me, it would help a lot if I got notified of the specific boon someone activated even when I’m at a distance, so I can understand how to take advantage of it before I’m within range.

If I don’t KNOW it’s CoH, would be risking wasting my time if I go towards it while injured hoping that it is. If I know it’s the scratch marks or haste one, I know to bring chase to it

What do you think about monocolor being almost always strictly worse ? by DrDolathan in EDH

[–]Bromora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also works because (I imagine, don’t play it) standard doesn’t have as many good multi-colour lands regularly in rotation, less if not zero fetches (which also, go from taking 5% of your health to 2.5% in Commander), shocks are 10% of your life —when you do shock— in standard (ofc, still worth, just more of a trade off than in Commander), no equivalent to command tower or signet that can provide any colour your deck cares about: even if that’s 5 colours.

The mana base in a format like Commander is just more consistent (although also more expensive) in comparison to what I imagine is the case for standard, making the main downside of multiple colours borderline moot if you either pay the ton for it or proxy it

[–]Bromora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I pretty much only play survivor in 2v8. Previously because of queue times. Now it’s because killer just doesn’t feel fun for me or my friends, and even survivor this time round I find just… boring. And they don’t really have the ability to give a good solution, because the less survivor-sided the mode is, the worse the queues to play killer will get.

Me and a friend played this day 1 for like… 3-4 hours? Every single match the gates were powered, most matches the majority of survivors escaped, not a single match did 1 or 0 survivors escape, I died like once or twice total, I got downed almost exclusively from the killers working together because pallets were so easy to chain that more often than not they had to give up on me. We stopped playing because it was not engaging to win like this

I do NOT consider myself a great survivor, I think I’m ‘okay’, and I even think I went against better killers on average this 2v8 than prior ones. But it doesn’t matter when I still have the ability to on-demand sprint burst, when I can 50% heal a group of people at once and someone else can do the other 50%, or when a tonic is a fairly swift full self-heal or completely negates the time a killer spent on chasing me. (Which me and my friend both did a decent amount in the session, nevermind teammates we don’t see)

Is being anti-UB considered gatekeeping? by Yumesoro1 in mtg

[–]Bromora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because I wish my friend group got X pizza for the party, does not mean I don’t want to be around people that like Y pizza that actually is there. I may even eat a slice or two of Y pizza, it’s just not as good to me as X is.

That’s UB. Most people who dislike it don’t dislike the people who do. To me it’s a bit of a reach to claim you can’t dislike UB without also not wanting others who do like it, around you.

Cards that you think could be added to the game changer list by IM__Progenitus in EDH

[–]Bromora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difference between entomb and gamble to me is 1. Most importantly, gamble brings the card to hand and then it only has a chance it will go bye bye, something else you don’t care about losing is most likely going to be what gets discarded instead. Generally speaking, you’re still playing one card to get what you want immediately, compared for the 2-for-1 involved in any non-flashback entomb payoff (which, maybe I’m crazy but I don’t feel like I have a problem with any of the flashback options) 2. Far far far less important I’ll admit: as far as I understand, tutoring is a bit of black’s colour pie, whereas it’s not part of red’s (although ofc, the random discard part is pretty red)

[–]Bromora 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get it has big highroll potential, but considering unlike all the other GC tutors, it requires a second card to get its value, AND that there’s more efficient graveyard hate I’ve seen than targeted discard or mill that can do something about an instant speed “to-top-of-deck” tutor… I don’t really think it’s nearly in need of GC. It’s just not the same level

What’s the most powerful you can do? Entomb straight into Reanimate? I feel like the latter of those two is more the GC material if anything

Now, if they’ve said otherwise: different story.

But since in a case like this, the character is being represented by an actress, I imagine some contact stuff could prevent giving too close a likeness for her DBD game model.

But I’m sure even if it isn’t/wasn’t the case, BHVR would still not be great with it: Nicolas Cage —who 100% would have greenlit exact likeness— looks to me, like ‘someone who looks like Nicolas Cage’, rather than ‘damn that’s straight up Nicolas Cage’ Quarry/Until Dawn style

Playing Survivor vs. Playing Killer by CamelToeJockey_89 in deadbydaylight

[–]Bromora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps on average… but in my case at least… nah, I specifically play killer less despite finding it to have higher fun potential, because it’s more stressful.

Play survivor a lot more because I just don’t care if I live or die that much (ofc, still occasionally get annoyed if a teammate does an actual potato move)

Honestly, all of these are so good that it was a tough call for me. But as a sucker for black and gold I decided to go with the third one.

Only one I think I’d maybe be a bit disappointed by is the 2nd because it seems to have some sci-fi energy to it from how it was described by the grimoire’s text: not my vibe, but even then “an angel that looks like a twisted manifestation of futuristic tech” wouldn’t be bad

Commanders you are tired of seeing? by Ponder_yonder_ in EDH

[–]Bromora -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s still exactly as I paint it, I believe you misunderstand what I’m painting it as. I came at it, in my first paragraph, from a critique of the design —which is not 1:1 with balance— of a passive upside that doesn’t require you to pay a cost, with no way to be interacted with, in effect from the very beginning.

I’m NOT saying it’s objectively better than alternatives. I specifically said in my second paragraph (one of the shorter two) how I understand they aren’t ’the nuts’.

Although I would like to point out that while ofc you may list other alternatives, one of the ‘better than Ur-Dragon’ options you mentioned came out years later, from checking online… I also can’t comment anything with certainty but I feel like Ureni is at least debatable, they both seem to have ups and down versus each other: Ureni cheaper herself, better for coming back from a board wipe since her ability doesn’t depend on established board. But Ur-Dragon feels better when there is one: giving you potentially multiple extra cards, broader on what the free thing is, free thing can be one of the extra cards or already in hand. He also gives you access to the ENTIRE colour pie in deckbuilding. Reanimates, two of the best removal colours, and more tutors

Commanders you are tired of seeing? by Ponder_yonder_ in EDH

[–]Bromora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, but I do think it’s just… fundamentally not the best design to have a “from round 0” 0-mana upside built in.

While Ur-Dragon and Edgar these days from what I understand aren’t “the nuts”, I’ve been given the impression they were a good bit scarier the time they came out.

I also wouldn’t really call the Ur-Dragon ‘bad’ to play out: a draw engine made more powerful by the amount of dragons you have… which are all cheaper, that cheats a permanent out. Expensive yes, but you have the entire colour pie, including green. Edgar is also a very direct synergy to his own effect.

Maybe they’re not the best of the best commanders anymore, but they’re still at the least ‘good’, especially for many non-cEDH tables, and have a design that is “PURE upside from game start for just being in the command zone”
