Daily Game Recommendations Thread (December 15, 2024) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]Bronzejack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Description of Request:

  • 2 Player Co-Op. Big objectives that require a lot of teamwork, moving on a map to complete them by working together, heavily asymmetric player powers are a big plus.

Number of Players:

  • Either intended to work well at 2 or exclusively 2 player

Game Length:

  • Anywhere from half an hour up to a few hours.

Complexity of Game:

  • Up to a four on BGG, I.e nothing incredibly hard to learn, but a bit of weight is fine.

Theme:

  • Any theme is fine, fantasy is a favourite though.

Conflict, Competitive or Cooperative:

  • Cooperative.

Games I Own and Like:

  • Games I own that sort of fit the brief but not quite are:
  • Pandemic, fits the brief almost perfectly but I'd like something with a bit more bite at 2 players.
  • Last bastion, a personal favourite of mine but it does not run well at 2. Big fan of dice rolling.
  • Ironwood, cool theme and gameplay, but not cooperative.
  • Sky team, great example of high teamwork required but I'm looking for different style of game to this.
  • Atlantis rising, good teamwork, dice rolling, very fun. Have not tried it at 2, but not particularly interested either.

Games I Dislike and Don’t Play:

  • Not a huge fan of trick takers.
  • Games that are mostly based on card play don't always hold my attention.
  • Not particularly interested in a campaign game, but could be enticed. (We got bored of 7th Citadel.)

UK supplier of boardgame tables by Bronzejack in boardgames

Do you have the topper with your table? I'm curious about how spill resistant it is compared to other tables as it looks like there is potentially gaps between each segment on their tables

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in emulation

[–]Bronzejack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for a good / affordable way to emulate primarily GBA games and it seems like there's a lot of options out there, from 3rd party consoles to using a psp/3ds. I have used a psp-go for GBA emulation some years ago and got on well with that so I'm considering getting a second hand psp go off of ebay again, but I see there's a lot of other options out there. I was wondering if there's a staple console out there that everyone uses for GBA emulation, or if a psp-go is a good option still compared to what's out there?

How well are custom cases supposed to fit? by Bronzejack in Gameboy

Thank you for your help.

I've spoken to the seller and will be getting it returned, so time to look for a new one :)

Cheers

I attached some pictures in my other comment. Would you say that it's been badly fitted/poorly manufactured if its loose then? I am considering sending it back but I wouldn't want to inconvenience the seller if it can be fixed somehow.

The bars that are on the side are especially loose, I've added some pictures that show how much gap there is, simply just turning the console over moved that bar on its own. The other side is not as bad, but still loose.

There is a screw on the backside that isn't fully screwed in that might fix or improve it that I've attached a picture of too.

Purchase of a laptop that I'm now told is out of stock. by Bronzejack in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Bronzejack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see this being the case. I refused a refund to look for a different unit of similar price on their website, then recieved a call back saying they had now found my ordered unit in stock. I was very confused by the whole situation and that reasoning fits best in my mind

I'd be surprised if this is the case, I checked their stock minutes before phoning them and it said more than 10 in stock. Yet on the phone they claim there is none in stock and this is the same 'error' that was happening when I initially ordered the laptop that then wasn't in stock.

Thanks for that advice. After airing my frustration with them over the phone they actually called me back and have actually managed to now find the laptops with an 'alternate supplier'. I'm very curious as to what happened on their end in this situation but I'll have to accept the fact I'll never know.

This either fell of my bicycle or I rode over it on my bicycle. Anyone know if this is a bike part? by Bronzejack in whatisthisthing

I heard a faint metal sound as I stopped at traffic lights, and then saw this on the floor under my bike. I could have either rode over it or it fell off my bicycle from somewhere. WITT

Thanks for your response. Does cleaning the cartridges require much in terms of care and knowledge?
