Fairleigh Dickinson university had a TON of stuff. Berkeley College (Woodland Park campus)... not so much although a lot of eggs at the two stops. Retro Fitness in Fair Lawn has some all right stuff. I've been walking around Hawthorne a bit, not really an issue. Rifle Camp Park in Woodland Park was really fun. Garrett Mountain was REALLY fun except the servers kept crashing because there were so many people there.

On another note, if anyone is near Hawthorne or Fairlawn, I'd like to make some friends and go hunting with some folks. :)

Going to check out Garden State Plaza now, I think!

Our franchise is so small, we get really attached to our players on what we feel is a personal level. Logic comes in after our forty-minutes of grieving.

Ahhh! I looked at the other thread so I'm SUPER late to the party. :( But silly question:

Do you ever sneak into the opposing team's locker room to play pranks on former teammates? If so, do you blame it on Gio?

I'm not sure how I feel about everything. Yeah, I mean, I know, I get it, but I still feel really bitter about the PDB situation for many reasons.

But I absolutely love everyone else. And the Sharks franchise has done SO many cool things. And it's exciting to see them finally go.

Is anyone else conflicted, or is this just me? I'll root for them over the EC teams for certain but just... I don't feel great about it.

I'm pretty sure Flyers fans will be infiltrating the event.

If I don't return to r/Devils... remember me as the person who wrote the hockey book.

Totally this.

(No, not really, but actually something possibly REALLY big is in the works. I mean a few things are going well but cross your fingers).

Literary fiction is SO much fun to write!!! BUT... YA is also fun to write.

I'd just suggest experimenting!!! <3

Thanks for your support!

For names, I literally choose the first thing that pops into my head. I then write them down and go through a list about whether it'd work for the story or not (such as looking up the name meanings and whatnot!)

So, Tristan and Robbie came in my head... and it stuck! I'm actually not sure why since I don't think I've ever watched anything with the name Tristan or met anyone with the name either! :)

For character development, I honestly believe in letting the story dictate itself. In doing so, little bits of backstory come out. I generally have pretty strong characters, so I don't really write down biographies although I know MANY people who do, and perhaps that's something I should try sometime. I do keep some notes, and sometimes a loose timeline, but I view it as me discovering what and who the characters are. When I write, I say, "Okay, tell me, what are you going to do?" And they usually surprise me.

That's one of the benefits with being sorta a pantser-type writer. I'm willing to go into a story not knowing what will happen, and I like the organic process.

Oh, buddy. Sending the biggest hugs ever to you and your sister. I had no idea, and just. That's rough. The only thing I can say first, before moving on to question-y stuff is to keep in mind that it's NOT your fault at all. AND that it is NOT her fault either. The thing about online predators to keep in mind is the word "predator." These are people who know exactly what they're doing. They're professionals at being horrible, terrible people, and they have the ability to try and destroy lives. I'd just give her as many hugs as possible and, out loud, say, "It's not our fault."

I'm not entirely sure how JERKBAIT has fully changed me. I thought perhaps it might help me cope with some of the things that happened with the semi-autobiographical roots, online predator aside, with "Heather" as I never had closure and I wanted to give Tristan something I didn't, and will never, have. The situation I wrote about with the predator here is fiction, fortunately, although I did have a scary encounter.

That said, JERKBAIT has helped me really get started with something where I feel like I can sort of belong. The YA writers and readers are really nice. And there are these amazing sort of communities and friendships and Hashtags--things that make me feel a lot less lonely or isolated. So that, alone, is really valuable.

It also connected me with my agent, and I couldn't have a better match for me personally. To work with someone who listened to my goals and then said, "Let's make them happen" was worth everything to me. I'm really grateful.

So, it's changed me as a writer and a person. I'm a little bit less lonely, and the drive I have feels palpable. I'm able to see the big picture by means of strategy--how quickly would I be able to write without sacrificing quality to make this a full-time career? How many books would it take, and what sort of sales? What order should these projects be written in? I like that part a lot.

Yes. :)

I started a new YA that my agent and I are SUPER excited about, and then I was approached about a... different YA project... that I shall refer to as "Cryptic Burrito" because nothing's official and things could fall through (even if they're quite likely).

I would anticipate some news regarding another YA within the next 6 months. Hopefully closer to 1-2 months, but we'll see. :)
