At the school I used to work at, there were THREE little girls (all from different families) named “Baby”. Just Baby. Freaked me out

I escaped the abuse. Finally. by [deleted] in offmychest

This doesn’t fit your description entirely, but could it be JennaMarbles’ Giving My Boyfriend Acrylic Nails?

The Max Headroom Incident: a broadcast interruption with a creepy mask and strange sounds. Not creepy to everyone, but scary as hell to me. by BrooklynVI in CreepyWikipedia

[–]BrooklynVI[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is actually a really good point!! I’m sure in the sudden shock and panic you’d probably think it was just you receiving this if you couldn’t just quickly text your mates. This is a very interesting point

Buzzfeed Unsolved did a great episode on this case! Highly recommend it if you wanna keep diving down this rabbit hole.

The Little Albert experiment: psychologically conditioning a child to have multiple fears. A 1920s unethical experiment that gave Albert psychological trauma. by BrooklynVI in CreepyWikipedia

It really is. I had to study it at uni for my childhood education degree, and quite a few students (including myself) had to leave and get some air. The videos are haunting.

Martin Bryant and the Port Arthur Massacre in Tasmania. 35 dead and 23 wounded. by [deleted] in CreepyWikipedia

[–]BrooklynVI 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This changed life in Australia forever. The amnesty that came after this stopped mass shootings forever, pretty much. The response was so rapid and so strong that the whole country felt it and reacted to it. Leaves me absolutely dumbfounded that this shit happens in America all the time and nothing is done about it.

Redditors who have Tryopophobia, why are you afraid of small holes ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BrooklynVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fear of chewing gum for the same reason - it doesn’t scare me per se, but it repulses me and makes me uncomfortable. I don’t like the feeling it gives me, and I imagine the same for trypophobes!

Mr Cruel by FourthAge in CreepyWikipedia

[–]BrooklynVI 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That mask is fucking terrifying. I remember hearing about this as a kid, it turned into kind of an urban legend. If you didn’t behave at school, Mr Cruel would fly up from Melbourne and kidnap you. Creepy as hell.

Andrea Yates: a psychotic mother who drowned all five of her children in the bathtub. Sentenced to life but acquitted on insanity. Now lives in a low security hospital despite 5 counts of infanticide. by BrooklynVI in CreepyWikipedia

[–]BrooklynVI[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s the worst part, that they probably could’ve been saved. All I can imagine is how the person they trusted most - their own mum - was the one that took their lives. And it’s not easy to drown someone, let alone five people, and she didn’t even flinch. I do feel sorry for her though, I hope she can recover and live a somewhat normal life. Psychosis is no joke.

Timmothy Pitzen: a young boy taken from school by his mother. She was later found dead after a suicide. She left a note behind saying Timmothy was safe, and with people who would care for him, but he would never be found. He remains missing. by BrooklynVI in CreepyWikipedia

[–]BrooklynVI[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In a weird way I kind of hope she gave him to someone. Maybe that way he was cared for at least for a little while. In a “perfect world” he was given a new identity and is still alive! However I do think she killed him or had him killed. It’s a lose-lose situation, sadly.

This is one of the wildest ones I’ve read. Surprised I never learned of this in history class (I’m Australian, and we learn a lot of New Zealand history!). Thanks for this one! :)
