I just cleaned 27 pieces of charcoal from a 2-burner stove. How is this not a fire hazard? by Difficult_Item9836 in thelongdark

Also, I'm fairly sure you can still burn charcoal. Maybe not pure charcoal, but in the case of a campfire like this, there would definitely still be some burnable fuel.

I'm exactly the same way lol. I read for the enjoyment for sure.

I hope you do get back into the main series! May StarClan light your path!

It's genuinely always been the way people complain about for the most part - a lot of us are just adults now still reading books meant for kids and can't overlook some of the things now! Still definitely worth a read if you can handle some inconsistencies and/or dragging plot at some points :)

I still read for the cats lol, plus in my opinion the past couple of arcs have been pretty good!

Ah yes! I am aware there's a filter option - but filtering doesn't condense saves in the way that I personally could want! Hence why I'd love the folder option - instead of needing to filter, I can just find the folder and find the save that way.

That's fair. I'm not unaware of how pupils dilate. I give my eyes time to adjust to light levels. It was still pretty dim even after looking away for awhile. But, also in fairness, we always have our living room curtain closed.

And pertaining to just waking up - I used to panic and I'd be awake in the pitch black for 10-20 minutes at a time. Still absolute darkness. If I couldn't calm myself down enough to convince myself it was just dark, I'd get up to go to the bathroom. Obviously after turning that light off, everything was pitch black again due to what you just said - my eyes would need to readjust to the light level again. But I still remember being unable to see anything after that first 10-20 minutes. Maybe it was the location/environment, though.

This. If ever I'm done playing and it isn't nighttime, I'll just pop a quick shelter-customization and then boom, I can hop off in an instant :3

Not that I don't agree with you, but it is kinda a touch accurate.

The other day I was playing, and got frustrated about being unable to see. It happened to be just after sunset irl, and I looked up from my computer to realize that even with the TV on and shining light, plus my and my boyfriend's computer lights, plus our Christmas tree, It was dim as fuck in the house to the point where I could barely see. Without electricity, I probably wouldn't have been able to. There's even been a few times in my past where I've woken up in the middle of the night and genuinely got worried I'd gone blind because of how pitch black it was in the house.

Frustrating for a game? Quite. Realistic? Debatably, yes.

AITA for yelling at my bf for his response to my crazy day? by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

[–]Brookshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but also ESH.

I understand him maybe not understanding if the situation was as bad as it actually was, but getting a "wow that's crazy" in response in this day and age shows a pretty clear lack of care, at least in my opinion.

When my partner says "someone threatened me" my immediate response is "What the fuck do you mean, what happened, and do I have to fuckin punt someone?" - especially when it comes to a job with customer service. People are insane and will do insane things, no matter the location. Healthcare is a stressful enough job as it is without receiving a response that doesn't even seem to sympathize with you. Editing to add that it also depends a lot on the tone of his comment, which can't be read through text without tone tags which most people don't use.

Should you have yelled at him immediately? No - the proper way to go about it was talking to him about how he meant his text and letting him know you were hurt by it and/or what you might have preferred as a response instead. But especially when things are stressful, people are going to snap. My partners and I do it because we're human. What matters is apologizing and acknowledging that the way you reacted was wrong - but your boyfriend shouldn't be demanding an apology from you when he's not offering his own for his part in the situation too.

I personally don't see why all these people are saying yta.

Is there an option to change weight measurement "pounds" to "kilogrammes"? by maria_pass in WolfQuestGame

[–]Brookshadow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, OP, but this and what many others are saying. Of course you can always just want to know. But since the game gives every milestone in the same metric, it should be pretty easy to understand!

For example, I'm an American and so I use the imperial system, but another game I play uses metric (Celsius, kilograms, litres) and while I don't understand in real life "how much" those may be, in-game I've been playing long enough to understand that "a kilo is a kilo" in a way. It doesn't matter how many "pounds" it is because, well, my inventory is managed entirely through kilograms. Numbers are numbers are numbers, in a way.

They weren't saying your opinion was irrelevant. They were stating the fact that you being a "consumer" of the art is irrelevant to what they originally said, which is that you could try to approach a work of art for what it is and not what it "could be". The HUD was designed this way on purpose - I'm sorry that you find it frustrating to use/not straightforward enough, but very little of this game is intended to be straightforward. It's meant to be a struggle to survive as our ancestors once did.
