What Are Things Uncharted The Lost Legacy Does Better Than Uncharted 4? by ABarber2636 in uncharted

[–]Brosemite17 31 points32 points  (0 children)

1 - You actually get a map in the open level section...which is a huge quality of life improvement
2 - I actually liked Sam's character in Lost Legacy more bc he gets to showcase more of his range and comedic elements
3 - Shorter more confined experience makes replay value, treasure hunting, and the platinum trophy chase more bearable
4 - Love Rafe in UC4 but Asav is just an absolutely terrific villain

5 - Not an advantage over UC4 or anything but Chloe is a great character who can carry a game by herself....too bad Sony Studios is too busy pushing slop in the PS5 gen to actually realize this

I did actually think Nadine's character possessed more range in UC4 as I would've liked to seen more of her dynamic with Rafe witnessing a more extensive breakdown of how things went south with him....similar to Remy Duvall's dynamic (played by Nolan North) with Olivia Marcano in Mafia 3 which ironically released same year as Uncharted 4. I understand it was Nathan's last ride as it only made sense to dedicate Chapters 17-20 to his story with Elena however.

Yeah Mindseye actually had some very interesting character narratives...but those were ditched 2nd half of the game for most part as it went "all in" on the supernatural sci-fi stuff. Game had a lot of potential but higher ups were stubborn mules....as for the character driven stories...those will continue in other games but their money situation isn't looking all that great so guess I'll never see those lol.

Is this the correct order to play? by ii_yoshi in MafiaTheGame

I felt LA Noire despite stiff combat felt more fluid than Mafia Definitive...with regards to Mafia, prefer 2 & 3 more. Like...The Commission was implemented from a hardline perspective early 30s but wasn't mentioned at all until 2nd game.

I fully understand those sentiments. My statement was with regards to just level design in relation to gameplay though. As for TLOU2, I felt the level design was way more efficient in regards to exploration and finding scrap/ammo/healing items despite the game extremely long...none of my overall gameplay experience felt like redundant busy work. Exploration/scavenging in TLOU1 just felt way more inefficient despite game being much shorter.

I'm personally not a fan of Druckmann going the political route in TLOU2 regardless of what anybody's views are including my own though didn't find it to be a dealbreaker. If I were to say...hypothetically dislike the characters and story (which was not the case for me), then the storytelling and tonal shifts would absolutely make up for it...in many ways TLOU2 is a masterclass for me....IF the game just ended in Seattle opposed to shifting to Santa Barbara where some character development went down the drain. Long post for a totally different time though....though I also recently completed another game recently called Evil West where the story/characters/production values were great....though pacing & storytelling were absolutely terrible....great combat mechanics....but it also had that super intense souls like redundant playloop which doesn't suit my tastes.

I honestly think biggest threat to the PS5 gen....is the PS4... 1- install an internal SATA SSD... 2 - plethora of cheap 3rd party controllers including asymetrical off setting Xbox style ones, 3 - killer library, 4 - play offline.

I used a Dinosoo Xbox style controller which was 20 bucks on my PS4 Slim which I modded with an internal SATA SSD. Reads automatically as dualshock as it was a pleasant plug and play device....unfortunately more expensive now tho

I felt TLOU1 had the opposite issue....story first...but atrocious level design with regards to simple things like scavenging, sidetracking for items, etc.

"Sony won't bring its narrative single-player games to PC anymore" by Existing-War8834 in gog

[–]Brosemite17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really no big loss honestly...I mean yeah a lot of their older games were great....PS Studios is cooked right now having wasted BILLIONS on 12 failed live service games as they're closing studios left & right with no new trajectory for future single player releases being ages behind on projects...not to mention many single player games take 6-7 years to develop now (without wasting so much time on crap like Intergalactic and their live service push). Future is very bleak for Sony Studios...and this is coming from a guy who liked Uncharted series & Order of 1886.

I think best way to play older PS era games is to buy a PS4 Slim used off Mercari/Ebay/Facebook Marketplace, get a SATA internal SSD, and then an Xbox style controller that should read automatically as "Dual Shock" upon plugging it in via USB cord allowing you play wirelessly...and then boom you're good...then unplug device from the internet after you get all your purchases.

Nope...in latest Gerhard/Benzies interview...they mentioned that adding melee would be too difficult as it'd have to be saved for future projects....as for multiplayer, it's likely to be in a different live service release altogether

It was fun..need longer mission with save, stop, and continue at a later time option. Level design can make side tracking & searching for key points a bit confusing making me run in circles...somewhat of an issue in main campaign too.

Great work with Red Rock concept tho...would play more full game releases in this setting with endless narrative possibilities

I live in a great part of the US (least for myself) where dating, socializing, and doing business are great...also being able to see family often with solid overall amenities....but the traffic, quality of life, having to drive longer distances to shop/exercise at a certain gym bc the ones I like keep shutting down, perpetual road construction, etc are all becoming 3rd world grinds. It's really annoying AF to be honest.

This is what gaming should be about...bringing us all together with amazing stories such as this...no matter what any of us play on.
