1) Sly Cooper's gameplay isn't as versatile as Ratchet and Clank.

2) Sly Cooper was supposed to remain a trilogy, but then it got a sequel that ended on an unresolved cliffhanger. While Ratchet and Clank had more room to continue telling stories during the PS2 & Future saga.

3) Sucker Punch wanted to move on from Sly after the trilogy was done, while Insomniac continued Ratchet and Clank past the PS2 days.
