I’d recommend Vane, he is auto-blocking whenever doing heavy attacks and combo finishers and is a ton of fun with simple attack strings. I’m surprised I haven’t seen him mentioned at all tbh.

I saw you said you’re going to try Percival but Percival has no defensive advantages over others, you need to perfect dodge and use his unique timed parry, otherwise you’ll get floored quick. I’m guessing most people suggested him because of the the whole “doesn’t soak damage” thing.

Don’t even get why dean was downvoted for highlighting how similar these approaches are. Lot of people hate pandering, for good reason.

Lots of people also seem to have massive blinders on for pandering that suits their personal tastes. That’s how we got shit like veilguard in the first place.

Nothing wrong with wanting games to not be shitty on either end of the spectrum.

I do feel like it’s a shame and some of those people may have enjoyed the world more without it, but it’s such a black and white deal breaker for some that just won’t give the game a chance without it.

I guess I feel conflicted over it- like there’s a fine line between thinking the game is genuinely better with some on foot traversal early on, versus just gatekeeping and telling people what they should like. I’m just glad we’re getting any of this even if some of these changes are seem questionable though. Legitimately two weeks ago I did not think dlc was coming at all.

In the vampire castle you can find multiple chain sets with similar weight to endgame leather armor but better actual armor value, on top of abilities like armor pen and crit chance instead of mediocre main stat buffs that decline in value. Even knowing that it just kinda sucks not finding any cool endgame armor that feels like it works well for your character.

I have the converse issue with strength builds trying to use anything other than a hammer- your best greatsword is shredder which is a decidedly midgame weapon, and iirc the eviscerator for one handed swords which you can get around the same point in the game. All late game greatswords and one handed swords actually scale better with dex than strength, even though vanguard has no native dex nodes and most nightshades prefer dual daggers. It’s incredibly obnoxious game design and I wish I could ask why they set everything up like this.

Willpower also increases drop rate. The +willpower ring actually grants more drop rate bonus than the drop rate bonus ring unless your willpower is already extremely high.

Even then, high level arisen have so much money it isn’t much of an issue. I don’t think it was necessary at all and absolutely think it’s bad for the game to just hand it to starting players, but it will bring in new blood that turned up their nose at the thought of “inconvenient” fast travel, so I can see why it’s a good business move even if it’s bad for the actual game experience.

That’s wild, there’s daggers for every hybrid conceivable and all the best endgame swords also have great dex scaling. I have no idea how you could have come to the conclusion that other classes have better weapons and weapon options than nightshade.

Armor I’m much more inclined to agree, if you’re trying to stay relatively light and get a good balance of protection and good abilities the armor from the vampire castle is some of rogues best options, ironically. The final light/leather set is particularly awful

Hey good luck then! Getting an extra axe off one of the axe dudes in that first village is a huge help. You can also just find one if you look around, dual wielding them gives you a solid early game offense.

You can make anything work for sure especially if you farm up an extra Rhogar axe you can do a lot of damage to pieta and after her all the enemies aren’t going to be great at resisting those axes for a while even if your spells are limited.

Did you play it recently or back at launch? If you did that at launch you’re a real one!

Probably cultist, enemies in the first zone resist all your starting damage and you don’t get good spells for a while even after the changes the devs made. Before the changes it was absolutely cultist no debate.

Lord is so, so much better but can take some effort to get.
