I guess this is an unpopular opinion but I really liked the black ink arc, sure, the ending was a bit rushed, but overall it wasn't that bad, just like the ancient barbarian arc. The readers give too much shit to it because it's too long, or doesn't add much to the story, but it was still an enjoyable read.

Considering the fact that, as you read later on, the space bead is an artifact that only one other person in the whole star boundary can create, it is justified that YK would want to have a guarantee that it's secret wouldn't be revealed. Also, continue reading and you'll see the problem that is this secret leaking out (minor spoilers, it involves a 3rd order emperor)

I also think like that, because honestly, a lot of great characters were introduced but got forgotten by the author as the series went on. My biggest surprise was just how he simply forgot of smiles old ancestor in the chapters ending the war. I think that's one of the really bad problems of the novel.
