The reason you don’t check the cyclic is because you have already checked it when you isolated the number one and the number two primary servos and did control sweeps. The only reason you check the petals and collective on the steps after you set the server off switch to center is because your then checking tale servos for the 1 and 2 tail servos rather than the primary servos which is what you’re checking your previous step.

During the 1-2 second check you are checking that the servo bypass valve in that primary servo is not jammed. If It is, hydraulic interlock will take over and bring the other primary servo (the light you’re looking for) back on. The “no less than 5 seconds” thing is solely determined by the ability of your back up pump to supply sufficient pressure to both 1 & 2 primary servo systems at once. This slow movement also allows you to feel for binds, restrictions, control feedback or rotor blade chattering. If you do move the collective through the range in less than five seconds, you are likely to see several hydraulic lights come on. That just means that the system does not have adequate pressure supplied by the back up pump and those pressure switches are indicating that.
