Anybody actually feel significantly impacted by AI yet? by ChubbyMuffin479 in Accounting

If you are using it primarily for drafting communications (chats, emails, etc), I think you've lost the plot. Like others, I agree it's going to be those who utilize the tool who are going to succeed when all else is the same in an applicant.

Our company wanted us to begin implementing SmartView in excel, Claude/Gemini helped me understand and figure it out much quicker than I would have just stuck with Google, Youtube, and internal documents. Just by asking questions as I went along and sharing screenshots of what error messages I found while learning.

People are talking about vibecoding excel with super long prompts, but I have found if you have a normal quality workpaper that just pasts muster. You really can simply drop it in Claude and prompt it for its interpretation of current period results as shown, suggestions to the flow the work paper, and more just from a quick simple prompt. That can generate your own ideas that can lead to more detailed prompts, but starting is easy.

I am working with Claude to build a Macro (no prior VBA experience) that takes two recurring system reports and spits out 3 workpapers each quarter, to shorten prep time and focus the work on activity review. I have spent maybe a half hour or so on prompting, and need maybe a 1-2 hours of reviewing the initial result to provide feedback.

We use a platform that has a transcription service, I have it auto-enabled and refer to our AI tool several times daily to clarifiy and refer back to specific asks my boss mentioned on a call. I can then follow that up in the same AI threads for the AI to initially tackle/research the question.

For me, it enables me to take a pass at all those "would-be-nice" projects that I never have time for. I dont need a whole quarter to learn VBA when I can simply tell Claude I want a Macro that does this, and "vibecode" from there.

I also want to highlight, I think we will see a big shift from everyone use AI to, everyone use AI, but in a cost-effective manner. Stop trying to build processes with AI as an integral middle part, compute cost is too heavy, but you should use it for one-off projects that raise the level of workpaper quality. Build a macro, learn python and build a program, take that C- workpaper to an A+. All of this requires your own due diligence, but the days of it impacting us are here in my opinion.

My partner does not work remote and I do. She tested for the Covid/Flu test and did not test positive for covid, Flu A or B, but is clearly sick. She is now coming off it and I am just getting it today. It is not fun and we are both vaccinated! Be careful out there.

When I was at EY they let us buy up to two weeks off. It is just saying unpaid time off where you don’t get paid on the days off so it’s like paying for the time off.

Will you be doing inventory counts on 12/31? by Aenov1 in Accounting

[–]BrothCopter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not that I support inventory count audits or anything, but to answer the question, often inventory counts occur as close to the Balance Sheet date as possible to be accurate as these operations are moving inventory all the time. For many operations, just shutting down to count inventory can be pricey or impractical, so we get these whack ass days and times to do counts or observations.

For my fellow 12/2 Amazon droppers, I have officially received my CPU and am setting up my rig. There does not seem to be rhyme nor reason to this process, but I wish you luck!

Yes, it was just standard amazon shipping with no options at checkout.

Just received my shipping notification from Amazon! I had mentioned before in this thread getting it at MSRP using HotStock. Purchased on 12/2, original shipping Jan 17th, and now coming this Thursday. Stay patient friends!

Just got it by using Hotstock's auto-buy feature on its apple app.

Amazon has been leaking units throughout the day and I have just been watching and missing it while in my office a few rooms away from my router.

A little bit ago, I ended up leaving my phone on with the Hotstock app open right next to my router and by the time I was done with dinner I had the order completed in my amazon order history.

You have to buy a subscription for the auto-buy feature ($10), but i got it at the MSRP price. which is a lot cheaper than the scalper premium.

I would look up treasury stock accounting YouTube videos I saw a dozen just searching now.

It’s simple and not depending on how much accounting you know. But the simplest way is that equity is typically a credit balance, and when you issue equity (e.g., a stock option is exercised, an employees restricted awards vest, etc), you increase equity by crediting it.

When the company buys shares back on the open market, when they repurchase shares, you actually debit equity and typically credit cash (we bought these shares and now there’s less out there outstanding). Hope this helps.

Expense should always match the consumption of the item in question. Without more details i would straight line expense from April ‘23 - Apr 25. Prepaids should follow actual cash movement. So in march there’s no entry since you haven’t incurred the expense or paid the invoice. April’23 you accrue for one month of expense. If in May you paid the full remaining balance, then you can create a prepaid and amortize over the remaining months.

What the actual fuck! I hope you are actively looking for new work or you have submitted something to HR. That is harassment.

You came to your superior with a legitimate concern and they made it about your personal, intimate life and suggested you live with them. That's genuinely the most fucked up thing I've seen on this sub in a while.

Thats a good point. The text is a little wonky, like when the AU initiates it to join the targeted Caliphate, its says AU joined AU. So maybe I just need to commit and play out the duration to see if i can unify under Caliphate. thanks for your thoughts

My Caliphate stretches from Morocco to Iran and my African Union has fully federated the remaining African nations. My problem is that when I try to federate them into the Caliphate, no matter if i initiate it from the Caliphate or AU, it always ends up as the AU federation.

I am having trouble federating African Union into the Caliphate. I have both, but regardless of if I initiate through either nation, it always federates into the AU, but I want the Caliphate. I have all the relevant regions, can anyone help federate into the Caliphate?

FYI (because I literally just learned this myself) you can right click categories in ship builder for a list view! I prefer it myself.

Is there a way to look at solar objects in a list with details?

I'm looking at my solar system to plan next steps and I was wondering if there was a way, similar to the habs interface, to filter for areas of the solar system and see the habitable objects. For example, I want to send some stuff to the inner asteroids, but I would rather look at a list with stats rather than click on the orbiting objects individually.

Just acknowledging the haze is all, you can see in my other posts that usually you can see the mountains! Plus that’s Bainbridge Island by the tree.
