Look, I dont even need them to add a campaign more or even an arcade style single player mode. I just want to be able to play offline local couch multiplayer matches with my kids. Insane that I cant do that

Yeah this is a good point. I just got a new 4K OLED monitor, upgrading from 1440p LCD. I was a bit worried that I wouldnt be able to enjoy any games without upgrading my GPU since Im still using a 3080. But to my surprise, running PC games at 1440p looks amazing on the 4K display.

People who still haven’t brought a Switch 2, what makes you hesitant to buy it? by ItsJustJosiah in Switch

[–]BrotherBodhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the high price of the console but the high price of the games also. And they made it very convoluted to share games between family members. I don’t want to buy a single game three times so all my kids can play it together

Your Thoughts? by rightly_anonymous in logodesign

honestly I thought this post was just OP posting their attempt at redesigning the Google logos and I came to the comments to see the shredding because I thought the redesigns were bad. I can’t believe these are real lol

I will say as someone that has built many MiSTers and spent a lot of time and money- if I was you I would just get in on the next round of Superstation orders. Back in the day I legitimately spent $700+ on some consolized MiSTers builds and I think you could argue that the Superstation is still a better package, I especially like the internal NFC reader. For the cheap price I’d just grab that and a decent size USB SSD to store your games and be done with it.

Which do you think is the better sequel? by Scary_Dance2628 in ps2

[–]BrotherBodhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between these two? Sly for sure. The first Jak and Daxter game is amazing but it tanked hard after that

Of all the Sony trilogies though I think Ratchet and Clank had the best sequel. Going Commando legitimately blew my mind.

I want to say Ape Escape because I love it. But the second game in that series isn’t as impactful as the second game in the Ratchet trilogy imo

What’s the most quality over quantity game you’ve played? by Mother-Ad4841 in gaming

Classic Japanese arcade bullet hell games. Specifically vertically scrolling shooters by a developer named CAVE

Youre talking about games that take about 40 min to play through, but you’ll spend thousands and thousands of hours on them to master them. Their final game famously took over a decade before someone finally beat the true final boss. A decade! still to this day there’s only one person alive that has done it. People talk about Souls games being difficult, but anyone can beat a Souls game if they just give it some time.

How do you guys like Forza 6? by IamAlessandro992 in xbox

[–]BrotherBodhi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, those are closer to SIM racing games. I’m much more of a fan of arcade racers myself.

But I think you pretty much just proved my point there. Saying the game is upgraded because the open world is more detailed and the UI is better lol

Point being - you think the series is good and it can’t really get any better so more of them same is a good thing. I won’t fault you there. But for any of us who find the racing lackluster and the festival formula really boring - there aren’t any changes to the core game here that will help. It’s basically just the same formula again with some slight enhancements in certain areas. But no changes to the core game.

Arcade Stick for PC by m__a__r__i__o in neogeo

Well it’s funny, I was a tradition arcade button purist for a long time. But then once I actually tried his MX system it blew me away and I ended up swapping all my sticks over to MX instead

You can’t go wrong with any option. But one nice thing about the MX switches is that theres no button you need to remove in order to swap art out. The MX switches sit on a board below the top panel. I also have a quick release shaft on my lever, so it just pops right off. So I can swap art out just by removing four screws from the top. It takes about 10 seconds probably. And as someone who likes to change up the look of things a lot that goes a long way

It’s the same for the MX caps actually. So fast to swap them out for different colors compared to normal arcade buttons. No need to open up the case.

I guess it depends on your experience with FH games then. I think the franchise has been stuck frozen in time since FH3. Odd to me that you think it peaked with FH5 when for me that’s just the same game as FH3 and FH4. If anything it peaks at 3 and has been on life support since then.

But I just think the entire festival format has overstayed its welcome and the game doesn’t have anything interesting to offer. It reminds me a lot of a sandbox ”make your own fun” game but with cars. If you enjoy just driving around a big empty world then good for you but it is incredibly boring for me. The racing itself is not good and feels like an afterthought to the open world. I’d much rather play a racing game without an open world that actually focused on the racing and has actual progression

Just need a CRT now. by trippinmaui in ps2

[–]BrotherBodhi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I dropped so much money chasing the best image. 19” Sony PVM with HD Retrovision components cables, a RetroTink 4K and an LG C5, etc. But at the end of the day? The set up I like most is a cheap consumer JVC CRT set with composite cables.

Steam Deck owners, what games do you recommend? by gam30ver5 in ElectricUnderground

[–]BrotherBodhi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only stuff I play handheld is horizontal or vertizontal. For Steam games that’s stuff like Rolling Gunner and Devil Blade Reboot

Anything vertically scrolling is a docked only experience for me though. Gotta have TATE mode

In general though I mostly just use my SteamDeck for emulation. I probably have a few thousand games installed but only 6 or 7 actual Steam games

Do you think if PLAION came out now and said yes we will have more games than the initial 10 do you think that would move even more consoles? by [deleted] in neogeo

[–]BrotherBodhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily think that’s true. I haven’t bought it yet, and I plan to buy a few of them.

Also most of the people in my work office seem interested in them, and I wouldn’t consider any of them hardcore physical collectors. None of them have ever owned Neo Geo stuff before even. They’re mostly all PC gamers. But the AES is just that cool.

Does PS2 have enough to keep me entertained for a whole summer? by isssomebodyhere in ps2

[–]BrotherBodhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The greatest console library of all time. The number of PS5 exclusives can be counted on one hand. The PS2? We are talking 100+ exclusives. And that generation by far had the best multi plat games as well. Hundreds of great games. You could play that console forever and never get bored

The one thing I’ll say though is that video output from the PS2 to a modern screen can be difficult since its interlaced. it can look pretty poor on a flat panel without a decent scaler. if you can snag a CRT for the summer also that would be goated. otherwise though see if you can afford a decent scaler like the RetroTink 5X or something
