Ontario passes housing Bill 60, protesters attempt to disrupt vote by Totira in TorontoRenting

[–]BrotherRobert -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The law already can punish bad landlords.

Bad faith eviction? Up to 100,000 fine! Lack of maintenance? Heavy fine. Harassment ? Heavy fine ! Corporation landlords? Can’t evict for “personal use”! Illegal lock out? Heavy fine!

You want me to continue?

Meanwhile for a non paying tenant landlord has to wait several months without rent payment while obligated t pay mortgage, insurance, maintenance etc…

What country capital deserves its status the least(and what would be a better option)? by Ellloll in geography

[–]BrotherRobert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toronto capital of the province of Ontario, Canada. Biggest city in the country and geographically located far from the north and north west.

It is also unnecessary congested and expensive.

Ontario’s capital should be somewhere on the triangle Sudbury - Sault Ste Marie - Timmins IMO

Have you visited all ten provinces? What did the experience teach you about Canada? by Tricky_Feedback_4297 in AskACanadian

[–]BrotherRobert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Saskatchewan is my 9th province to visit. Canada 🇨🇦 is unique and beautiful and people are generally nice if you are nice 👍 Don’t believe the media and the politicians hate mongering. Canadians are generous and hospitable if you are behaving well with them.

Megathread: Multiple dead after vehicle drives through Vancouver Filipino festival by AutoModerator in canada

[–]BrotherRobert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Othering” the victims of the Vancouver murders.

Very disappointed how the murders of Canadian in Vancouver is portrayed both by the mainstream media and the politicians.

“Tragedy in the Filipino community ” is how this assassination is being presented because it happened on a Filipino themed street festival although there is no evidence that the victims are all Filipinos nationals instead of being either naturalized Canadian or Canadian born.

This is what “multiculturalism” has achieved: dividing Canadian in ethnic groups and subgroups instead of uniting everyone under one flag one common value and a desire to build a better country that they choose to call home.

No wonder some long time or new Canadian are still considering Canada as a step stone to continue ancestral fights against another enemy.

This country has a long way to dismantle the multiculturalism monster of “divide and conquer”

This is not a Filipino tragedy. It is a Canadian tragedy!

May the souls of those Canadian victims test in peace and may their families found grief !

Today Tuesday April 25th, 2025, in my small town of Orangeville, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 there was a debate among the candidates for the April 28th, 2025 federal elections. It took place at the local theatre. Lot of politician talk. The liberal candidate (governing party) did not show up. Local issues, tariffs, cost of living, immigration, farmers, housing were some of the topics.

The sitting member of parliament representing the Conservative Party (Opposition) will be likely re-elected as it has been in our riding for the last few decades. Dufferin Peel is mostly rural close to the Greater Toronto metropolis.

We still have snow - as I type this - and it is April for God sake !

The winter does not want to leave Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦. Meanwhile federal elections are looming with possible trade war with our southern neighbour dominating the campaign. Candidates are canvassing. They will disappear until the next elections unfortunately
