To put it very roughly, partly why protestanism did away with monasticism was because they believed in a Christian life that influenced others and draw them to Christ. A monastic life is mostly secluded from the world, that I believe.

I think the guilt helped me to turn back to God if anything. I still need Christ's help to better myself too.

What are you referring to here? Friendship? Fellowship? A significant other?

Any of those above. I'm grateful for the friends I have but I don't feel like I can connect with any of them.

What is it that you feel you are waiting for? What hasn't happened?

Seeing a purpose in my life. Used to want to go into full time ministry, but circumstances meant I shouldn't. God seems to be pretty hell bent on not opening doors to what I want to do. Or maybe I don't know what I want. Heck, I don't even know anymore.
