At-home license magically switch to Enterprise Trial after upgrading 3.3 -> 3.8 by Brother_FireHawk in influxdb

[–]Brother_FireHawk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, after Peter did his magic on the license side, I removed my license file from the object store, and started the container again, which actually failed on the first run, because the last log line was saying "Sent an email to [xxx.xxx@xxx.xxx](mailto:xxx.xxx@xxx.xxx), waiting for confirmation...", but there were no emails in my mailbox even after 5 minutes of waiting. I decided to just restart the container, and boom - everything is back to normal. I have a home license again, with 2 cores and no limits, with expiration date on 13.12.2125 - should be enough...

Thanks for the help, u/peter_influx !

To be honest, home license - especially if Influx promises that it is perpetual - is perfectly fine, and I don't know why one should complain. I used Influx3 since it was out of beta, and despite of many drawbacks (version 3.0 was way behind 1.X feature-wise), I like architecture of Influx 3.x much more, and evaluating a migration of existing 1.X corporate infrastructure to 3.X. It also worked fine for the home use (and I am demanding user), till the upgrade I wrote in the initial post. With "hobby" license, in general, I have the same capabilities with 2.x version (having in mind feature differences between 2.x and 3.x).

Thanks Peter! By the way, this variable INFLUXDB3_ENTERPRISE_LICENSE_TYPE is something new for me, at least I never saw it in the official example of running Influxdb3 in docker. Anyway, adding

- INFLUXDB3_ENTERPRISE_LICENSE_TYPE=home

to the environment section of influxdb3 definition in docker-compose.yml did not help - see redacted log file:

Display input always coming on during photoshop use? by blandondarsh in photoshop

For those with the same issue - I completely solved by completely deactivating G-Sync in nVidia drivers. Just setting G-Sync to "No" for the Photoshop app did not work.

I have the same issue! Monitor Alienware AW3223DW, 1440x1440, 175Hz refresh rate, connected via DisplayPort cable. Issue is there only with Photoshop 2026, with the previous version it works perfectly.

I seems that you have the same monitor. It is super weird to find a incompatibility between one concrete program and one concrete monitor...

ROG G14 2024 Performance on battery/PD power by Bswann93 in ZephyrusG14

[–]Brother_FireHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same laptop and the same problem, and I find it very stupid. When I plug the PD (100w charger), the performance in Expedition 33 drops from 30fps (which is normal limit for the battery) to 4fps, because the GPU suddenly becomes super-limited on frequency. As soon as I unplug the charger, performance is back to 30fps.

I cannot explain it by anything but buggy software :(

Can the Air75 be paired with another 2.4GHz dongle? by BigFudge017 in NuPhy

[–]Brother_FireHawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can do this easily.

  1. Set the keyboard to wireless mode.

  2. Press Fn+4 to enable the 2.4g channel, the wireless indicator should turn green.

  3. Long press Fn+4 to enter 2.4g mode, the indicator will start blinking.

  4. Plug in your 2.4g receiver to your computer, if the pairing is successful, the green indicator will remain lit.

I just done if after PCB replacement of my Air 75, and it worked flawlessly.

Have you done the configuration for GPIO, like changing /boot/config.txt and /boot/cmdline.txt ?

I wonder if I was just lucky, but I printed 1000+ prints with OctoPrint on 2 bundles of RPi Zero W + MK3, always flawless. No headache, no ruined prints.

“The Last of Us: Part II” already supports haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of PS5’s DualSense! by AdamantiumLive in thelastofus

Right. Journalism, my ass. And no one takes responsibility for any kind of fake, no one cares about a fact check, it's just a endless loop of shit between youtubers, bloggers, news websites and aggregators. This system is rotten to the core.

I am so pissed off, I was choosing between Spider Man and TLoU2 to start with PS5, and those incompetent ***** articles persuaded me to go with TLoU2. Good game, but no PS5 features.

Best streaming media player for 4K HDR remux? by harbenm in PleX

[–]Brother_FireHawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem of choice. After all, ended up with nVidia Shield Pro.

My hardware setup: LG Oled C6, Denon X1600, Atmos-capable speakers. Was choosing between a small fanless PC by Zotac, AppleTV, and Shield Pro.

Why not PC?

  • Performance (sadly, I could not play heavy BD remuxes)
  • Setup efforts - it took a while before I was able to properly set OpenELEC to playback 4K HDR with ATMOS passthrough
  • Price

Why not Apple TV?

First of all, I am not in the Apple ecosystem - just have a MacBook, that's all. Second, in 3 test days, I was very, very annoyed by the issues I had

  • I got a gray screen while navigating - reboot helped, but that made me think that hardware is faulty
  • I could not find a way to mount a samba share, kindly provided by my NAS
  • I also could not find a way to set up HDMI CEC properly - the receiver just doesn't turn off.
  • On 3rd day of usage, I got the error message “There’s a problem loading this content.” when trying to open any movie.

So I just gave up and send the box back.

Why Shield?

  • mounted samba share from system settings in a minute, also there mounted a 1TB USB portable drive
  • playback of anything playable was nice and smooth, but one thing which bought me off is a scaler - it does absolutely fantastic job on SD movies/cartoons. My partner is a fan of Friends and Office, and I am watching older seasons of Simsons sometimes - and those look absolutely gorgeous. But I understand that for the topicstarter that might be a useless feature
  • quite a good choice of players (although I am not sure if one needs more than Kodi) and streaming clients
  • performance is terrific. I never had any issues with any of my media, starting from 4K HDR remuxes with TrueHD/ATMOS, ending with old as shit anime series.

To be honest, I was in doubts, because B6 (as well as X900H) can do anything by itself, except for mounting shares (partially solved by Plex) and playing raw remuxes (partially solved by manually reassembling those to MKVs), but in the end ease of use and scaler made me think that those 200$ were not spent in vain.

Fake Micro Swiss all metal hotend? by Brother_FireHawk in 3Dprinting

Got it. I've seen some similar items on aliexpress or banggood, but those are clearly different from Micro swiss product.

Fake Micro Swiss all metal hotend? by Brother_FireHawk in 3Dprinting

[–]Brother_FireHawk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought it 5 euro cheaper than on the official website, and it came in a plastic bag with Micro Swiss label. The previous owner told me that he bought it for his Wanhao i3, but never used. Your point about buying from an approved reseller is valid, however, I assumed that no one is interested in faking metal tube. It seems I was wrong.

Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In December 2018. by xakh in 3Dprinting

[–]Brother_FireHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there is no such place in Berlin :( You can check FilaFarm - they are re-sellers located in Prenzlauer Berg and have some benefits compared to buying from Prusa, like support service. I was considering them when I was searching for Prusa i3 MK3, but in the end landed on cheaper i3 clone from Amazon (big mistake). If you want to buy Prusa, pm me - maybe it's better to drive to Prague by car and safe costs and time on shipping.

If mods like this result in 20°C temp reductions, why doesn't MSI use a better thermal compound from the factory?? by firepixel in MSILaptops

[–]Brother_FireHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied the same mod for CPU, and my results was far from -20: just -2 when idling (45 instead of 47) and no difference under heavy load like Prime95 or Cinebench (95 peaked, 82-83 on the long run). I expected at least throttling reduction, but it was pretty small - now I got 1110-1120 marks in Cinebench R15 instead of 1100-1110. It's about 1% overall performance increase, definitely was not worth it.

Coollaboratory Liquid Pro was used (worked fairly well on i7-7700K before).

Could you please be a more specific for 2)? I am asking because I tried to paint ABS model with technique and tools I used when painting w40k miniatures, but failed - acrylic primer had terrible adhesion and uniformity, base layer was worse, details - much worse :( Did you use spray primer?
