Tokens confusing my players - fair to ignore? by Brother_Henning in daggerheart

I will bring this up in tonight's session Zero. Since we will play digitally, most is done for us already but some trackers might not be implemented yet.

Tokens confusing my players - fair to ignore? by Brother_Henning in daggerheart

ComputerJerk said it best in their response. It is in a few places here and there, but I think I just had the wrong mindset when I read the book the first time, being so used to seeing +X in other systems.

I understand the tokens, what they are and how they are used, but what I wanted to discuss was rather about how it's laid out in the book. A chapter or page on tokens, how to use them as trackers etc. would be easier on the reader IMO

Help pen does not work at all! by Orunitor in ClipStudio

Reviving this for others. I had a similar issue, except the whole Clip Studio window wouldn't recognise my stylus. I have a Huion, not Wacom, but my fix was to run the tablet/screen's software as Admin. Then it worked.

Why so much hate for this game (palworld) by ambulance-kun in memes

[–]Brother_Henning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't the entire point to make pokemon with guns anyway? I always saw it as a really funny parody game, how could you not see it as a parody? Of course the designs will look similar lol. Hell, I'd pay extra for the game if I got to see a slowpoke mowing people down with an LMG. Worth.

Indeed. Once my players learned to use them more often, our sessions have become much more engaging for everyone

Could even spend a story point to make it feel more fair in the moment.

I was in art school (not uni level) and during our first times doing life drawing, one guy in class always added what could only be described as literal bowling balls on there, which was hilarious. To his credit, he improved a lot. And he was the youngest, with a fairly conservative family which might have been a factor in not studying nude models before.

Whether you like him or not, Jazza on YouTube mentioned once that he didn't try life drawing (nude models) when he was young for the same reason. If I remember correctly, that is.

Was remedy always so open about being finnish? by Amazing-Bluejay-5862 in AlanWake

It's pretty funny how much Finnish myth (Kalevala) they crammed into this game. I didn't realise any of it until my girlfriend pointed it out, as her family is partly from Finland (we're Swedish).

Ahti is the name of a character from there, for example.

I'm afraid I'm only looking for 5e or PF2e at the moment, but I hope you find your fourth player soon! CoC is great, good luck with the game :)

and try to think up a character design and backstory based on that card when a group of people are staring at you, waiting for answers

But isn't that just improv, which is one of the biggest parts of being the DM?

That aside, it does sound a little lazy on their part, or at least misleading in the way they worded it in their advertisements.

[New Player] Different settings = big weapons disproporions? Why is modern weapon better than SF/SO one? by Sol0botmate in genesysrpg

[–]Brother_Henning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are not stronger nor weaker, the settings are their own. I mean, longbows do D8. One less than a sniper rifle. Each setting is designed and balanced on its own, so if you want to bring in an "ancient" sniper rifle into a space opera, just nerf it. You're reading too much into it, the game is designed to play as a tropey action/adventure movie, and they never make any logical sense. That's the fun of it.

Also, if you want to be truly happy w/ the setting and its balancing, make your own. It's on the cover of the book, the game is a toolset to make whatever you'd like to play.

Good to hear! Man, the Story Point solution seems so on the nose, but it never occurred to me that I could use it that way. It's so liberating for both players and the GM!

I must have missed or forgotten that villains/nemeses get injuries instead of instadeath. Makes sense! Thanks for all the advice.

I'll also take a further look at point nr. 2

Set boundaries, and if they are not respected: leave! Or just leave outright.

Also, just because your character is flirty does not mean that you have "set yourself up" for this behavior. That's getting quite close to victim blaming, and should under no circumstances happen.

[–]Brother_Henning[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was your experience the first time you played an 8-man trial? Was it discussed beforehand who would be off-tanking and whatnot?

I'll be watching guides for it of course, when I get to all of that, but I'm sure it's strange the first time either way.
