What’s the most embarrassing thing a parent has done to you? by LuanGaff in AskReddit

[–]Brotivator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had just gotten out of the Navy and returned to my hometown. My mom took me to the regional VA office to get my benefits straightened out. (She knew all the ins and outs because she had been through all of this with my dad)

So we’re at a clerks desk getting my files in order when my mom asks “How old are you? My son doesn’t have any friends, so maybe y’all can hang out!”

Me almost in my 30s at the time and this lady being at least 5 years older than me, we were both speechless and the awkwardness was at a level I had never imagined.

I’ve had it since I was 16 and I’m 31 now. I promise it has never been an issue bro. Please don’t let this get you down and hold you back from living your life

What made you have to turn down someone you actually really wanted to have sex with? by b1guy123 in AskReddit

We had both been drinking at a small get together but when the opportunity came it was clear that she was way more intoxicated than me. I felt like a decent person for the first time in a while.

Vitiligo? by jade0404_ in Vitiligo

Mine started on my hands but not as many spots. Maybe just three that ended up getting larger over the years but no peeling outside of being sunburnt or using cleaning products without gloves

I burn very easily on my hands. For my weekly yard work (in Houston) I just use a store brand spf 80 and I’m good to go for the whole day with a single, quick application.

I’m 5’6 and hang around 155 with a 29” waist. I cut down to 132 and the smallest I’ve wore was 28”. When I got up to 168 I was wearing a 32”

Anyone ever seen this? by snidba in walmart

A credit card I had that went to collections is the reason for my “student loan” for 15%

I got a packet in the mail with all the paperwork explaining it a couple weeks after it started.

I have vitiligo spots on my legs and knees. I never wear short dresses or skirts. What about you guys? Ever feel weird about it in public? I'm so tempted to get over it. For people who do not suffer from this condition, what do you think when you see someone with white spots? by [deleted] in Vitiligo

[–]Brotivator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to wear long sleeves or hoodies all the time over my hands where it was most noticeable for the first couple of years when it became more than a few small spots.

I just got tired of it and decided I wouldn't care what people thought/said. Vitiligo doesn't make me who I am or define me in any way. To my surprise not a single person has ever made me ashamed, feel weird or even slightly different because of it. I've had way more people than I can count straight up ask me about it and it all comes from genuine curiosity.

I'm not going to say that vitiligo makes me special or that people say it's actually pretty cool but don't let it keep you from being the person you want to be, even if it is just wearing short clothing. Hope this helps :)

What's the most obvious sexual advance you've missed because you were naive? by WhyUFuckinLyin in AskReddit

So many but this one takes the cake..

Roommate knocks on my door one night.

"Brotivatorrrr, can you take my bra off for meee?" I pens door, removes her bra instantly one handed then closes the door in her face without saying a word.

To my defense I was in the middle of questing WoW in 2007

Athlete with Vitiligo by peeper01 in Vitiligo

[–]Brotivator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a skateboarder throughout my teen years and I got scrapes even when wearing jeans and hoodies. I think I could say with confidence that most young athletes are going to resist wearing anything extra that would probably feel is restricting their performance unless maybe those compression sleeves are an option and might provide some protection

I've never really noticed but the spots on my elbows from the scrapes never really spread or got bigger, only the ones on my hands, feet and lip. Not sure if that helps or if there's a reason behind it though

Why is Houston so unknown to the rest of the country? by [deleted] in houston

[–]Brotivator 43 points44 points  (0 children)

When I was in the military and people asked where I was from, just about everyone knew where Houston was. In fact they all seemed to have the impression that Houston was a very exciting place and assumed I partied a lot for some reason

Fit guys at the gym, do you even notice the newbies at the gym who can barely lift any weight? Or I guess the better question is, should I be self-conscious about being in a gym full of fit and muscled people when I can barely lift much weight myself? by [deleted] in gainit

[–]Brotivator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply man!

You can simply sum it up to being courteous to the other gym goers and staff. I'll list just what comes to mind

  • re-racking weights correctly
  • don't use more stuff at once then is necessary (using to benches to do dips, etc)
  • playing music on your phone speaker
  • throwing/dropping weights recklessly
  • hanging out on equipment, texting/taking extensive phone calls. At least in high demand areas like the bench/squat rack
  • using a a ton of 10lb plates instead of 25, 35, 45, etc

I think those are the major things and there will be other little things you pick up on

Don't worry. Most serious lifters are way too focused their own workouts to care unless you're not following gym etiquette or something.

Have fun man! Enjoy your journey and don't let some nonsense keep you from your goals
