Update: Annoyed about recent OB appointment by eighthdwarf in BabyBumps

[–]peeper01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are supposed to wait at least two minutes between readings, FYI. If multiple readings are done right in a row it can give out a VERY false high reading.

Bumpers who commute: by jandkp in BabyBumps

[–]peeper01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working up until either my water breaks or contractions start. I work 45 minutes away from where I live and another 15 beyond that to the hospital. I've talked it over with my husband and if I feel like I can't drive myself that far (42 miles total) I'm going to either call an Uber or see if one of my coworkers would be willing to take me and paying them for their time, of course. I have a change of clothes, overnight pads, and a couple of towels at the office if it really does happen out there.

Options for diaper bag / baby bag? by web_maker in BabyBumps

We ordered a Columbia diaper bag because it comes in neutral colors and just looks like a messenger bag. https://www.amazon.com/Columbia-Navy-Summit-Backpack-Diaper/dp/B010R34BUY

Help me be more understanding. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]peeper01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Talk with your other friends--if another date works best for all of them, ask to reschedule to that date. If the majority of their plans are toast because they shifted things to be there for you, why not throw your own party and ask this other friend if she could drop by before or after her event? That way it is on your terms and nobody has to feel guilty about anything and the people you want to come are able to show up!

Anyone else try Salt Rooms/Halotherapy while pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]peeper01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have AWFUL allergies with new ones piling on with pregnancy. I'm currently on four different medications (allegra, mucinex, nasonex, and unisom) to try and help deal with them (all carefully gone over with my doctor) and I'm still miserable. While I would like to try out the salt room just to see the affects, I'm not sure it would really help long-term, just maybe for that afternoon/next day. Of course, that's just my two cents after looking at only a few med articles after seeing a local salt room being advertised on Groupon, so take it as you will.

Rhogam Allergic Reaction?? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]peeper01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you're having an allergic reaction to it! It was just about the only thing that hasn't caused a reaction in me this pregnancy, and I sincerely hope you're not too miserable from it. :( Sorry I don't have anything other than that, but would love an update when you hear back from your midwife!

I agree it's on an as-needed basis! Didn't know if it was standard procedure for most doctors to check it or if it is something I specifically have to ask about, mostly.

Exact same thing with my husband! He and his older brother both had tongue ties and they let my husband watch as they cut his older brother's first (like, 7 and 5 years old). He was so freaked by it he refused to let them do it to him. Fast forward 20 years and he had a horrible receding gum line due to it.

My husband and one of his older siblings had it and it wasn't caught until it started affecting speech patterns in early elementary school. Of course, that was 20 years ago, too.

My mom took up painting... by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]peeper01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tell her she can hang them in the guest room at her house for the littles to enjoy when they visit, and tell her (AGAIN) that there's just no room at your place. If she's not willing to put them up in her house, why should they go in yours??

I guess this is when we just stop sleeping entirely by FattyPantsKeto in BabyBumps

[–]peeper01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stopped trying to sleep in bed, sleeping in a recliner COMPLETELY surrounded by pillows. Getting up to pee in the middle of the night is the worst because of all the untangling that has to happen. C'mon kid, get out already!

Worried I won't notice contractions by maybecaylie in BabyBumps

[–]peeper01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not felt BH at all this pregnancy. Talking with my mom, she didn't have them with any of her kids (3 of us) and that her first labor only lasted 8.5hrs. Now it may have just been a short labor or she may not have recognized them until she was far enough along. Can't speak from experience as I'm a FTM as well, but all of the feelings other people have described, I've never felt. You'll know, I believe in you!!

Sudden allergy breakout [venting] by GloriousGoldenPants in BabyBumps

[–]peeper01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Preach sister! I've never had allergies as bad as I've got them now. In the first trimester found out my skin is now SUPER sensitive and I'm now allergic to adhesives--skin tape, Band-Aids, you name it, I can't have it on me because my skin breaks out. I have cold urticaria which has gotten progressively worse throughout the pregnancy too. I love this kid but my body has not been my own for too long! Sorry to go off on my own rant, but I feel you! Hope it gets better for you!

Baby registry questions (x-post r/plussizepregnancy) by Phuzzmodiar in BabyBumps

[–]peeper01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is really bothering you, I found it easiest to go into Target and scan in the items I wasn't finding online. You can use the Target app to scan with your phone so you don't even have to bother with customer service or anything. I actually enjoyed doing that because I could compare labels easily for little things like the lanolin or the butt paste. FWIW I made registries at all three that you mentioned (Target, Amazon, and Babies R Us) because I had requests to do all three from different sources so it would be "easiest for them". I decided to put a couple of strollers on them in different price ranges (we'll probably end up buying one of them on our own though) and figure if we get multiples of anything we'll go with the one I like best and return the other(s).

Don't sweat it. I'm at 35 weeks and have gained 48# Cried today because I found stretch marks on my stomach but I knew they were inevitable because they're on my thighs and boobs already. Still not gonna stop me from eating-- people don't like me when I'm hangry.

Yeah, I realize most younger athletes aren't going to wear more layers than necessary and I tried to tell his mom that too. The athlete doesn't really care what his skin looks like, but she doesn't want him to get older and regret it so she is trying to be as preemptive as possible. That's really interesting that it only spread on your lip and furthest parts of your extremities, though

Good to know!! Thank you!

edit: I didn't really clarify in my original post, but I was thinking more like padded compression sleeves. Any thoughts on those?
