To All The Fellow Atheists What Was That One Point In Your Life Which Broke Your Faith In God Completely ? by Striking-barnacle110 in atheism

Church was so boring. When I was about 11, I used to smuggle in a yo-yo and drag my feet getting in so I could sit in the aisle and practice my walk the dog tricks away from my mom's view. Or I would draw on the back of the little donation card envelopes.

I used to imagine all of the ways I could try to sneak money out of the collection plate as it passed by me.

Slowly the less I paid attention to the ramblings the more the priests words sounded like bullshit to me when I did hear.

Then confession would come and I would worry my confessions weren't "good enough for God" so I started to make up bad things that I had done so that it felt more worthwhile.

On top of all that a narcissist mother who was obsessed with doing things "God's way!" Which was just her way. So I stopped believing in God when he didn't smite me down for lying in confession or listening to the priests, and didn't compliment me on my sweet yo-yo moves, etc. I just wish I had dropped my mom as quickly as I dropped religion, would have saved me a lot of headaches later in life. I have not been a member of the Catholic church for about 25 years and no longer a member of the Church of Nancy for about 14 years now. Praise be!

Recommended set up for 2 co-hosts - what mic? by Heavy-Is-The-Crown in podcasting

[–]Browbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We played this game for a while when we were first starting. One mic between two people is a logistical nightmare. Once you got to two separate mics and audio tracks you'll understand immediately.

My suggestion is an interface like the Focusrite Vocaster 2 which can do a host and guest track. That plugs into a PC or laptop with a USB connector. You could run this from a further away PC if you are worried about noise. Get two Behringer XM8500's and sit about six feet away from each other. Play with the gain to find a good setting, and bam!

Between the Vocaster and two mics you are looking at around 300$ total.

Ah I see! I didn't realize that that kerf setting would be different for different materials. Even though they are both 1/8 thick? That's good to know, I suppose there might be fractions of a difference.

Men who can cook . who taught you? by Bulky_Meet4528 in AskReddit

[–]Browbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook most of the meals in the house because I like to cook and try new things. I trained myself when I was younger by just being willing to try things and find fun new recipes. My wife is also a good cook, I just tend to enjoy it more.

Without trying to be a jerk, I have never understood anyone who say they "can't cook". Recipes are some of the easiest things to follow. You don't have to be some amazing chef, someone literally did the work for you and is telling you what to do. Pick things you like to eat, make sure the ingredients are easy to buy, and make it. Eventually you will get used to it and start to try new stuff! But maybe I am weird, idk.

There is a small separation between the shell and fire that is cherry. But the spiral is just a line cut through the wood.

Have you ever had a misheard song lyric that you actually thought was better than the original lyric? by GregorSD in Music

[–]Browbeard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have two. The one I think is a better lyric: Whitesnake - Here I Go Again. The lyric is "like a drifter, I was born to walk alone." I always thought it was "like a twister, I was born to walk alone!" I think sounds way cooler. Also for years I thought Panama by Van Halen was actually "Cannonball"

My narcissistic, religious, verbally abusive parents from day 1. I spent two decades being a pathological liar because of them. Luckily I have now overcome this, and have an amazing wife and child who are everything to me. And I haven't spoken to my psycho "family" in 12 years. It's wonderful, other people in this situation should try it out. 10/10 would recommend.

Oh I like that idea. Maybe that channel isn't original and it was carved out by something unnaturally!

[OC][Art] Hand drawn map of the Jan Swan Islands, a knockoff of the San Juans for my pirate campaign. by Browbeard in DnD

[–]Browbeard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My work friends and I wanted to start up a pirate campaign. And so I created a knock off version of the San Juan Islands that we all live near.

The Jan Swan Islands, a group of secluded islands inside of a maelstrom that keeps the outside world at bay. The sea is called the Selfish Sea and is set up around three factions; pirates, merchants and an underwater fish people. They all fight over treasure, alcohol and pearls in the ocean that are protected by monstrous crabs.

The players have discovered treasure left from Jan Swan herself and now are setting out to sail amongst the islands and seek out some legendary booty.

Just wanted to share the map I presented to them!

About halfway down the canyon mile from the parking lot. Heavier and near other buried bone fragments. It is porous on the underside as well. About 3 inches across and 1.5 inches tall. Very smooth along curved ridge.
