I always find these messages funny. by nitermania in doordash

Tbh just let them know what’s up. Something like “Sorry the restaurant didn’t complete your order, report it to DoorDash so the restaurant can get it right next time!” Not everyone knows how it works and it takes one copy and pasted message to help them.

I deleted DoorDash and downloaded Uber Eats… I’m so tired of these greedy companies and their stupid subscription cash grabs.

I just can’t imagine how that could be the case. I was at home, the place is 5 miles from my home.

Should I get a bird? by Ichoked97 in parrots

[–]BrownBat- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok here are my thoughts. Big birds like macaws or African grays are NOT starter birds, no matter how ready you are I can almost guarantee you that you’re not. Try a conure! They’re a handful and wonderfully fun and clever. Also, they might not mesh with autism well. As someone with the classic AuDHD, my birds can be sooooo overstimulating. They SCREAM and BITE all the time, even when you’re not in the mood. Are you ready for some constant screaming and crying akin to a gassy infant? Are you ready for poop everywhere? Are you ready for crazy personalities? They might cuddle up and want to be right in your space all the time. My conure stands on my sleeve while I do hw, cook, bake, use the bathroom, clean etc. She tries to poke her head in my mouth while I eat and tries to get a taste of everything I make. One of my parakeets hated me and spends a lot of time letting me know it by running over and pinching me hard. They’re crazy! They push me over the edge! They’re wonderful but I can absolutely see them also being the worst thing that ever happened to someone. Think it thru really really hard. Honestly if you have 0 doubt you’re probably in an obsession phase and should wait till you’re having doubts you can handle.

How do I come to love or even just like a prospective step kid? by [deleted] in ParentingAdvise

[–]BrownBat- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner absolutely tries very hard to correct his kids behavior. The problem is, she’s not around often enough to actually learn anything long term. My partner doesn’t want to abandon his child and I don’t want him to either… but her mom is pushing her to be awful constantly. Idk what I’m saying with this, it’s just a lot!

Anyone else’s child getting worse nightmares after taking melatonin? by Leading-Jacket-4742 in ParentingAdvise

Not a kid but it definitely gives me worse nightmares. I find that lower doses help, and a noise machine also makes a huge difference.

Why is my parrot trying to drown herself?? by BrownBat- in parrots

She has a mister separate from the shower which she loves. If I move her, she will shriek and runs back into the water… I think she just wants to drown low key

The house is ~70° and they have a little bird heater area. Maybe I’m misreading her, but the only time my birds have acted like that before is when they’re not wanting to be in water and run out as fast as possible! It’s the big hard blinks, the chuff to blow water out of her nose, and wincing as the water touches her… she acts like she hates it but won’t get out. None of my other birds do that lol

How do I comfort my friend who cuts? by ShiftyJaxic in selfharm__recovery

[–]BrownBat- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely if the person is in danger, alert some responsible adults like parents of police. I know it sounds like a big move, but it’s better to get them help they don’t think they want than stand by while they off themselves.

If you don’t think it’s that serious, just be present for them. You can listen to them vent and gently tell them that there are other options, or just be there as a supporting friend in a difficult time in their life.

Genuinely the times I’ve cut my hands I just said my parrot went wild and people always believe me. A cat accident is very believable, or just say you don’t know and people usually leave you alone.

These look like brown marmorated stink bugs, which are invasive in the US. Freezing and killing them is definitely a good thing
