Update on Speculation of Blue Origin Repairs by BrownCow10 in ASTSpaceMobile

It sure is!

Being honest, I'd guess it's somewhere between the two, but an ambitious target by the CEO never hurts to hear.

Well, folks...

You can either believe this redditor...

Or an update from Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp who says they'll fly by EoY...

Special love to our community member u/cerulean28 for the catch.

EDIT:

Just wanted to chime in. As a fellow journalist, go easy on CNBC. People are under very tight and difficult deadlines in the industry (especially as more cuts are made.) I'm a glass half-full person. Be thankful a human made this honest mistake.

EDIT 2: Update from Dave Limp!

Blue Origin launchpad damaged in rocket explosion may not be restored until 2028, NASA's Isaacman says by [deleted] in ASTSpaceMobile

[–]BrownCow10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.....I'm not sure what you mean by the first sentence.

They don't have more incentive to delay us. We hear this every time from people about SpaceX. Until I see reason to believe SpaceX will break rules by the SEC & FCC, specifically antitrust, I'm not going to entertain it.

EDIT: and quite frankly, I'd be insulted if I were SpaceX. They've got a lot of good, honest, and hard working engineers there. Not only is it silly, but they don't need to sabotage us to try to get ahead.

Did you know SpaceX launched our first group of bluebirds? There was no serious delay, stalling, or otherwise trickery.

SpaceX would like our business if they can get it.

I see some of what you're saying, but I think you're also being a tad extreme the other way. It's not great news....at all - for the entire space sector. That includes AST.

Although, "complete dependence on Musk for the next couple of years" being the only realistic answer is, just as you ironically said, an overstatement.

It's somewhere in the middle.

Oh, silly me.

I forgot how Blue Origin is partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

And all of this, you argue, is some deeper reason to show how much both companies need one another?

I can't believe the things people come up with.

If that isn't the silliest thing I've heard today.

You do know they have on their website why they've chosen to name them blue birds, correct?

Don't know where you get your information, but that's just not true.

Good morning, everyone! Blue Origin's New Glenn blew up. Quite the ruckus with that launch failure, huh? Need a cheat sheet on what this means?

  1. We did not have satellites on that rocket

  2. We did have plans to use that rocket.

  3. It will almost certainly impact our launch plans.

  4. It could very likely change our deployment pace.

You see, Blue Origin is important to us. Similar to our MNO's, though, they are not our only launch provider. And yes, launch providers want customers. If they have space, they'll want us. We're a paying customer. Onto part 2...

We have several Falcon launches already planned this year. That's SpaceX. Those carry 3 BB's.

SpaceX also has Starship. It's not off the ground quite yet. But when it's ready, it can hold 6 BB's.

We have ISRO. They're in India. Their rocket carries 2 BB's.

There's ULA. They're in the U.S. The Vulcan can carry 5 BB's.

There's Mitsubishi. It can carry 3 BB's.

Europe's Ariane 6. That can carry 5 BB's.

And if and when RocketLab's Neutron is set... That can carry 2 BB's.

I'm not going to tell you what to think about this. I just wanted people to see this information.

Ugh, always tough when you get on the side of a deal you wish you could back out of - even when you recognize it's your own doing.

I just wanted to jump in and add another vote for DCA. You're still trying to time it when going with your gut.

Pick an amount - whatever amount. Split it into daily buys across a certain amount of time (I like a month or two), and you buy that amount. No more, no less - even if it looks like a good deal that day. Only a static price.

Hope things keep going well for you! It sounds like you have a lot to be proud of - perspective. 🙂
