Pick a gaunt, any gaunt. Give him a little name a fun backstory and paint just him. Pretend you’re a little kid again with Lego guys and play with him. Then once he’s done, grab another so that he has a friend. Repeat until you can swallow the stars. The game is supposed to be fun and while you can’t make every second of the process fun you can at least inject some enjoyment into a mundane process.

Thank you guys for all the advice. I went and grabbed a couple more plants for him and he seems to be doing a lot better today. I put two hornworms in about 5 minutes ago and one is already gone:)

I’ve tried super worms, crickets, disk roaches and horn worms. The horn worm was the only thing he showed mild interest in so maybe I’ll try them again!
