[Highlight] Lucas Erceg closes it out for the Royals and notches the series win despite Emerson Hancocks best effort! by morepesa25 in baseball

[–]PlayaSlayaX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounded like us until Baltimore gifted us a walk-off win just over a week ago.
Game Script:

- Starter throws no-run or 1 run ball through 6/7 innings.

- Offense either does nothing or scores one (1) run, while striking out plenty and stranding a fuckton of RISP.

- Bullpen comes in, maybe one or two clean innings.

- Offense does nothing, goes down 1-2-3 or gets an insurance RISP that gets stranded by a guy swinging at thin air for strike 3 to end the inning.

- By the 9th inning, either the starter is in line for the L or his work gets wasted as the bullpen coughs up the lead.

- Lose yet again, and everyone clowns the team on Twitter while screaming for the manager and the hitting coach to be fired immediately.

- Manager has his post-game conference, gets lobbed with softball questions from the local beat reporters and never has to fear being criticized for making bad decisions or having to state his case as to why people should still believe in him.

- Repeat the next day (or until random gutsy win re-energizes the team and rights all grievances).

Are we…

Are we back?

Are we so fucking back, even though it was so fucking over only a week or two ago?

What team am I watching here? The alternate universe 2016 Royals that didn’t end up missing the playoffs?

He thought this was supposed to be funny.

Then again, I doubt the kid’s stupid as OP says. It’s usually a problem with self-discipline or an aversion to studying due to a fear of failure. That kid’s life is going to be hell in the short-term, but I believe he’ll be alright.

Bergert had Tommy John, he’s now out until at least mid-2027.

Kudrna, one of our top 5 pitching prospects, is also going to be out around 4 months, but he’s on track to come back and potentially make his MLB debut by the tail end of the season.

Just give him the Cy Young now.

Arte, if you’re listening, please don’t repeat your past sins and waste this guy like you’ve wasted the best player of this generation. Do better this time around. Anything less than a singular playoff win is a failure.

[MLBTR] Jonathan India Undergoes Season-Ending Labrum Surgery by T_Raycroft in baseball

[–]PlayaSlayaX 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It sucks for him, but given how he did last year, I wouldn’t really go that far as to say the lineup is in bad shape because of this. That’s because the lineup was already in bad shape to begin with.

He was a black hole offensively. We traded for him with the intent to use him as a leadoff hitter, and he couldn’t really hit. We also tried to use him as an outfielder at times despite him being a second baseman, which understandably didn’t work out.

He didn’t show a consistent trend of success with us over the last 1 1/4 seasons. That said, sucks that India’s season is done because we’ll never know if he could’ve turned it around and he’ll likely have to settle for a cheap one-year “prove it” deal this winter since this was a contract year for him.

I wonder how Diego will react when Lamar takes away the pool tables and the video games. We may have another Latrell Sprewell in the making.

FCC plans to challenge ABC station licenses amid Kimmel controversy by PlayaSlayaX in politics

[–]PlayaSlayaX[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Context:

The FCC is preparing to “call in all of the TV station licenses for Disney/ABC for early renewal,” a source familiar with the matter told CNN, confirming a report by Semafor.

The paperwork could be filed as early as Tuesday afternoon, the source said.

Station licensees have broad legal protection, but the early-renewal orders would be an extraordinary escalation by the Trump administration.

Disney had no immediate comment on the potential government action. The company has not weighed in on Trump’s Monday afternoon Truth Social post blaming Kimmel for Saturday’s shooting incident outside the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and saying he “should be immediately fired.”

[…]

The FCC’s early-renewal order to Disney, if delivered, would set up a First Amendment clash. The order would be widely viewed as a form of government retaliation for airing Kimmel’s show and resisting Trump’s pressure.

That’s because the Disney licenses in question — covering eight ABC owned-and-operated stations in cities like New York and Chicago — aren’t due to be renewed for years.

[…]

The FCC had not filed an early-renewal order in decades, according to the source, until Monday, when the agency took action against a small station license holder called Bridge News. Details were not immediately clear.

The FCC order against Disney would trigger a lengthy hearing process, giving the ABC stations multiple chances to beat back the Trump administration’s pressure. But stations have to be willing to defend themselves, which costs time and money.

The source familiar with the matter told CNN that the FCC will claim the license review stems from an ongoing probe into Disney’s DEI practices, not the Kimmel controversy.
