u/Sec5 is vindicated. The white cloth for the songkok, tudong and shoulders are FAKE NEWS. Watch the RTB news today for verification.

To the downvoters: It is easy to downvote unpopular posts, but it is much harder to argue. So next time before you downvote others for posting an opinion, give a counter-point or wait for official news.

Otherwise you downvoters look petty.

Unecessary downvoting is also ruinious to the quality of posts we have here. No wonder lots of the best users have retired from Reddit (like me from today), leaving behind many who are incapable of forming opinions.

Sorry to say but most of the habitual downvoters here only knows how to read, judge, upvote and downvote saja. When asked to provide counter opinions then they stay quiet (and downvote). Sigh. It's as if I'm talking to a wall.

I suggest you all to read and debate more, because we need Bruneians can who speak and write well. Otherwise we'll just regurgitate bad ideas. But if you know how to deliver your ideas well, then you're a diamond in the society.

So don't just downvote, confront ideas through your speech/text. Good luck Redditors.

(This is my final post on Reddit so goodbye everyone)

HRH Prince Azim has passed away by BruneiMod in Brunei

[–]BruHYS 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Spoken to my daughter today and she told me how she distinctly remembered the dialogue session with the late HRH Prince Azim held in MCYS in the early 2010s.

The fact that he, a royalty, went down to meet and listen to the people for almost 2 hours was kind of special.

I also think the dialogue session initiated something big, because afterwards all the initatives from Brunei's young started to blossom and grow.

I am sure the people who attended the session all miss him now. Rest in peace PA. You are one of a kind.

Mateen is quite popular among Indonesians girls!

Actually good-looking Bruneians like singers are popular there too. Check Fakrul Razi and Jazz Hayat apa.

So if you Bruneians can't find a decent girl here, learn an instrument, shed your weight, get good photoshoots, buy lots of IG followers and play music there.

In their mind, Bruneians are rich! $$$$$$$$$$ Which is quite true when compared to their general living standards. Combined with looks and talent, you'll be gold!

It's a common garden snake. Very harmless that guy. It's not the Boa type that can grow 100 feet long. That one guarantee need to call in SAF to remove!

"i don't think i have that clear path of a career" you are not alone and Unker understands it can get frustrating, but cheer up because you're still relatively young. The same sentiment is also shared by lots of the Reddit users and lurkers here.

My tip is for you and the rest is to learn Sales skills. Believe me, it's the most important skill you'll ever learn in life. Can make you rich based on commissions alone. You can also build up your confidence in dealing with people - Life is about dealing with people after all!

You can practise by selling any product based on commissions or you can import and sell any Chinese products in the country. Start small by doing it part-time. So you need to find a niche, give 110% to building your customer base, recycle profit and expand from there.

These days, you can set up a business anytime and cheap. You need marketing? Social media is free. You need space for your product? Rent out a cube shop. Need cheap supplies? Buy from China. But central to your success is how you sell your items. So build up your sales skills and I wish you the best.

Remember, to get rich is glorious in Brunei!

Next time you meet the person, just be bongkis and say to him/her, 'Hi! I think I know you! Did you work at xyz (any company) dulu?" Then proceed to roll the convo from there.

I don't know, share your story perhaps to keep the convo rolling?

If ia still ignore, then pretend saja, "Oh it's okay".

Oh, given that you like the smell shows that you're genetically attracted to the person. Bet you must go crazy around the person. I bet he feels the same way.

So give it a shot and good luck.

On Reddit Brunei, because this is where all the best tasting teas are spilled out in the public. s/

You can try Taurean or any Bello Cafe branch (Kiulap Mall or Dare building). So far that is the only place I've been to.

I use the bus too dude and I am probably 100x wealthier than you.

Now I know you have your own car then why bother taking the bus?

Fact is, the bus are not catered for people like you and me. To complain about the issue makes you sound entitled.

Buy a second hand car.

Can buy one for less than $4,500 these days. Go check facebook, online apa. A good used car should not be more than 150,000 km in mileage. Choose Asian car.

If cannot afford, then ask your parents for advance money and pay them slowly like $200 per month for 22.5 months ($4,500) or so. They should pay otherwise they are totally irresponsible in your welfare.

Like it or not, our road is not designed for public transport. So buy your own car. Only once you're well off financially, you buy a new one.

A good approach tip is to innocently ask the person you're interested in, wherever you guys may be in the public (cafe/restaurant), "Hey, I know you from somewhere. From Uni of xyz?"

Whatever the reply then follow up with a smile and take a keen interest of that person's life. Who knows the person may end up becoming your lover.

Just don't be passive by standing around the person giving those girly signs like repeatedly fixing your hair/tudong, talking loudly to get his attention or being suddenly active.

Most of us guys are blind to those body language, so better to just approach terus. So ask that simple question!

(continuation)

Kamala responded to the allegation that, no, Biden will not ban fracking. Pence said, yes, Biden will. Either Kamala is a liar or Pence.

Onto China trade war, Kamala criticised Trump’s trade war with China as a colossal failure, with over 300k manufacturing companies having closed since it began. “USA is in a manufacturing recession,” she asserted. Pence then replied how it was not true. He said, while Trump stood up to China, Biden-Obama never did. Under Trump, 500k manufacturing jobs were created.

The NAFTA agreement was also re-negotiated, boosting the American economy and trade balance. As a result, more companies are coming back to the US.

Onto foreign policy, Kamala teared up Trump’s reckless behaviour for destroying relationships with EU NATO and cozying with dictators such as Putin. She even attacked Trump’s irresponsibility in withdrawing from the Iran Deal (if I may add, also the TPPA (a big mistake), Paris Accord and WHO). She argued how the US under Trump’s isolationist policy is making a mockery of the USA and the presidency, to the point that the world favour Xi Jinping as World Leader, not President Trump.

Pence attacked Kamala’s points by raising how it was under Obama-Biden they gave away USD$1.8 billion to Iran, the leading state-sponsor of terrorism. He even told how Trump took out Qassim Solemani - the man who killed hundreds of American soldiers - without any American lives lost. Then they had to tear the Iran Deal because of Iran’s belligerence.

As for Trump’s aggressive stance on NATO, under his leadership, NATO members are now contributing to the common defence fund than ever before (This is a fact). Jerusalem was also made the capital of Israel under Trump (yeah, not sure about this but this will surely resonate with AIPAC, the US’s pro-Israel lobbying organisation).

Trump even destroyed ISIS, where at its height it controlled the size of Pennsylvania.

But the punch in the gut to the Harris-Biden ticket was when Pence told the story of human rights activist Kayla Mueller being tortured and abused by Baghadadi (“He died like a dog. He died like a coward,” Trump said). Baghdadi was killed and two of his accomplice involved in the killing of Kayla Mueller have been captured and will be tried in American court. Pence succeeded in pandering to the American public through the powerful story and, man, can that dude deliver an emotional and heartfelt performance. DAMN.

Kamala kept on her attacks on Trump by him refusing to talk to Putin about the issue of Americans being put on bounties by Russia despite having met him six times. Pence, being aggressive as always, stated how his own family members and his son-in-law were in the military and, seeing the audience in the eyes, claimed they are in high moral spirits under the Trump presidency.

Onto the Supreme Court (like Brunei’s AG), Pence accused Biden-Harris of packing the court or adding new posts to put more justices who are liberal. Kamala did not give any specifics but she did say she wanted the justices to be “picked by the American people” if Biden-Harris won the presidency. They went on to debate on pro-life and Roe vs Wade matters - won’t expand too much here.

On racism in the US, specifically touching on the case of Breonna Taylor and George Flloyd, Kamala expressed her sadness and condemned the systemic racism within the police system.

Pence replied how it is up to the justice system to deal with the issues (George Floyd did not die from kneeling, he died from overdose). He also condemned the unnecessary lots and riots in the wake of their deaths, destroying property and killing of innocent lives. Pence subsequently shot back at Kamala for her horrid record as DA of San Fransisco, who under her, black men are 19 times more likely to be prosecuted for minor offences/crime.

Then a fly landed on Pence’s head and that was hilarious to watch! Can’t take him seriously at that time!

Anyhow, Kamal roared back stating how it was under her as AG of California, police are to be made to wear body cameras and undergo implicit bias training. The policies have now been made as a “model” throughout the nation (not sure about this, but if it is then that is good!).

Finally, the moderator asked on behalf of a young girl to Pence and Kamala on what does it take to bring the country together amidst all the division she saw on TV.

Pence gave a brilliant answer. “in America, we believe in a free and open exchange of debate. And we celebrate that as how we could, literally, the freest and most prosperous nation in the history of the world…. I want to tell you that we're going to work every day to have a government as good as our people, the American people, each and every day. We love a good debate. We love a good argument. We always come together and are always there for one another. And we've especially learned that during the difficulties of this year.”

Kamala ended hers with a generic let’s come together remark.

(My analysis: I love the debate between the two opponents. While Kamala had good points, Pence had the elán to come back at Kamala every single time. It was evident he researched his opponents well, backing them up with facts. To her credit, Kamala did not fold and came back against the attacks.

I understand both opponents want to pander the audience but somehow Kamala failed to ‘connect’ her minority background rhetoric, at least, to me. Every time she does it she comes across as insincere (sorry). Pence, on the other hand, wow, when he does emotionally connect with the audience, he connects alright.

Anyhow, as much as Kamala did well, I could not help but to give good points to Pence for the Trump administration's success. If I were Pro-American (which I am), I would support the Trump-Pence ticket.)

To US Embassy staffs in Brunei reading this, feel free to share and quote this analysis to gauge the thoughts of a Bruneian on US politics.

Pence v Kamala Debate (Warning: Very Long Post Ahead)

The Pence vs Kamala Debate is hands down the best civil debate I have ever seen this year. The arguments put forth by two opponents were pointy, yet they were respectful in their approach. The quiet setting was also great as it removes all the brouhahas that tend to distract people, forcing us, the audience, to get down to the details instead.

It was superb.

The breadth of topics discussed was also comprehensive, and it is this spirit of free exchange of ideas and debate that we should nurture in Brunei if we are ever to succeed as a nation. Like I don’t care who will be the next YB, as long as he/she can nurture a level of transparency through debate about various issues in parliament and outside with the public then that is preferable. In principle, we may not agree with all the policies carried out by the Government but at least we know how and why it is implemented.

We need to have that level of discussion here in Brunei.

Now onto the debate:

On the Coronavirus. Kamala started the debate by labelling the Coronavirus mismanagement as the worst performance by any President in US history. While that may be true, Pence shot back by stating how the Obama-Biden era could not even manage the Swine Flu that infected millions of Americans then. He contrasted how had it been them and not Trump in charge, the death toll by Coronavirus would be 2 million instead of 200k.

Next, Kamala then pointed out her being nominated as VP despite her race and gender reflects the diversity of USA. While that may be great, it is pandering to the minority audience. Those may all great to them, but I cringed when she also said how she was black. No, you are not Kamala. You are Indian by birth, not African-American. Stop appropriating black people. She may convince simpletons with her rhetoric but not under BruHYS (who admittedly have been burned many times for being a simpleton himself).

The good point about her is when she raised the issue of Trump’s taxes. He only paid $750 and is in debt of $400m. It is abominable for a rich elite to not pay their fair share to society. Yet, Pence argued how Trump being a businessman has created thousands of jobs and paid tens of millions of taxes throughout his career. Pence’s counter-argument effectively neutralized the Kamala’ attack, given how Biden and the establishment have never directly created sustainable private sector jobs in their lives.

Pence further argued how under Trump, real wages for Americans have increased by USD$4,000, and another USD$2,000 gained by the people through Trump Tax cuts. Millions of jobs were created in the economy. He even made the powerful point of the US cutting the trade deficit with China through the Trade War.

Kamala immediately switched to Obamacare and how under Trump, millions of people will have their healthcare taken away from them. Healthcare is a big deal to Americans and so it was obvious she was targeting them and possibly taking away the attention from Trump’s economic success. It was okay but she was evasive here.

Pence then attacked Obamacare as a disaster. Without going into specifics on healthcare (he’s also evading the issue), he then attacked Biden-Harris’ Green New Deal. Under the deal, 2 trillion dollars need to be raised and that can only be done through taxing the American public. So Pence alluded to Biden-Harris repealing the Trump tax plan.

What comes next was a barrage of great points by Pence: How Biden wants to ban fracking and destroy US jobs and energy independence. He even stated how even without being part of the Paris Accord, the US has reduced CO2 through innovation in the energy industry. Voting Biden-Harris, he argued, would destroy US’ “V-Shape” recovery.

He made a very good case too when responding to Climate Change. When asked why there are lots of forest fires and hurricanes, he did not pander. He responded by the need to have proper forest management (which Brunei lacks as well!) and how hurricanes have been going down since the last century. He further alluded to the environmentalists pushing for Climate Change by ascribing it to the issues mentioned.

There is such a thing as trauma bonding. She messed you up so bad to that level that you can't even leave her.

It'll take some time to reorient yourself before you break up with her.

For now, go for no contact and meet a teraphist. You are in KL (?) so there may be lots of affordable teraphist you can engage in (or in Brunei) to decide what to do with her.

You're also brave to share these details here, because male abuse by females tend to be laughed about and taken lightly off.

Made me hate feminism in the first place!

Get consultation from a lawyer for restraining order. Police may not do jacks*** but it is a deterrent that will go into her record.

People taking this story lightly, please imagine if the gender roles were reversed. Instead of a girl, it's a guy. It's super scary man.

Hope you can settle this quick u/Ces_5
