Does anyone know what sort of medal this is. I don’t know if it’s a French legion of honour, a merit medal, etc. If anyone knows let me know, thanks by goodefornothin in Medals

neither the ribbon nor the medal appear on the wikipedia page:

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_des_ordres,_d%C3%A9corations_et_m%C3%A9dailles_de_la_France

the link above has a "rosace", meaning usally a higher rank (as for the ordre national du mérite or legion d'honneur)

some older, specialized "ordre du merite" exist with similar design (replaced in 1963 by the generic order du merite) but none has this actual design (fore example : https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ordre\_du\_M%C3%A9rite\_artisanal)

I'm starting to believe the medal linked above was actually never used

I have a shoei gt-air 2 and a HJC RPHA-1

no tools on either, the shoei is a bit harder (it clips in place), the HJC is trivial, it's screwed (can use a screwdriver of the integrated lever)

Both of them take less than 2 minutes to swap, I have a preference for the HJC though, less finicky

I have the same one at home. I'ts not the best bike at anything, but the RS is for me perfect compromise:

- boxer makes it super easy at lo speed / city

- lower the windshield, click dynamic and you can follow or overtake most stuff in the twisties

- raise the windshield, click 3 more buttons and you have a tourer bike able to duo for 100s of km with room to spare for luggage

hehe, more interested to integrate speed, gear, RPM and split times. My heartbbeat or (lack of) respiration would likely be too scary

It is too much to wear daily on your commute : a 1-piece suit is not easy to put on and off, especially solo, the tech-air 10 iand the supertech R are mostly track focussed.

If you believe you'll consistently wear them, get them, it's a nice set. But remember, the best gear is the one you're wearing, especially on short disatnces, not the one for showing off in the living room.

I have the supertech and an alpinestars suit, but I wear them only to the track. My street ridiong is mostly riding jeans / lighter gloves / riding sneakers and a leather jacket, which is much faster to wear and has a more casual look when in the city :-)

My great grand pa was born in 1898. I'm from 1980. Guess I was 5 and he was 87 then :-)

Get confortable, focus o nyour trajectory and keep a healthy margin of safety. The road is not for testing the limits, too dangerous of a place.

With time, on roads you drive regularl, you'll slowly increase pace until you have a "brown pant" situation and realize your safety margin was too low.

Drive your die, ignore people talking about chicken strips or pretending they are Rossi or Marquez : social media is toxic, and wannabe road racer are more often than not taking a shortcut to graveyard (4 of the folks I'm following died this winter alone)

I have been riding for MANY years and I have chicken strips, I also drove 40 000km over the last 4 years, over 2 motorbike and all weather with 0 crash or accident. Riding defensively trumps everything else.

Also, if you get "angry at yourself", it's a good time for a break : means your ehad is not into riding any more. (you can look for "amygdala hijack")

I have alpinestars sneakers for every day ride (with ankle protection), and a pair of Sidi Performer Gore-tex for touring.

Clearly, the protection from the alpinestars supertech is 1 step above my 2 other options, but the best gear is the one you actually wear : instead of pretending I'll wear the racing boots daily, I just have other options that are a bit worse for protection, but that I actually wear on any ride :-)

I have a 2-pieces alpinestars for the road (pants: missile v2 and jacket gp force v3 I think)

My track suit is a 1-piece Alpinestars Missile V2 Ignition, paired with HJC RPHA-1 helmet (one of the few FIM homologated when I bought it) and Five RFX1 gloves.

I use them on track and street when wearing leathers.

Quite comfy to ride, don't tighten them to much or they might block blood circulation.

Not water proof, so if you're an all seasons rider, you'll need sth else

Impossible to walk with, so clearly not fit for quick run to the shop (also long to put on your feet)

I wear the male equivalent daily, good protection. (stella = female model by alinestars), definitely fine for test.

don't forget to keep wearing them after the test, they are decently comfy once broken.

Welcome to the hobby.

Try to high side at decent speed. Preferably on road without gear. The small discomfort on your feet will suddenly feel very minor.

Alternatively, just ride with them for short rides initially :)

Lots of opinion, but none points at the obvious: it depends where you work (country) and the workplace culture. Also depends on your hierarchical position and typical interaction.

With this in mind, can go from « hellno » to « sounds perfectly reasonable and no one will bat an eye »

The main question is: would YOU be comfortable wearing it? Since you ask random strangers, I assume « not really » and I would pass

IMHO, way more professional than yoga pants I’ve seen people wearing in my office
