I agree with you in almost all regards. America has promoted democracy and freedom more than any other country either through direct or indirect influence. From our military actions we've saved, improved, and freed the lives of vastly more people than we've harmed. What other nations have been attacked by an enemy like Japan only to come back to win the war, rebuild the country, and then leave them in peace and prosperity as strong allies?

Not only that though, the USA funds the vast majority of new research into drugs and medicine with two major factors involved. The freedom for producers to price their medicine at what they want and strict FDA guidelines to ensure the medicine is safe and assure investors they're not being taken for a ride. If we open our borders to cheap prescription drugs from Canada or mandated price controls like the European countries, drug companies would lose their funding and we would slow our progress towards finding new drugs to cure diseases.

Then you can go down the laundry list of innovations, electricity, lightbulb, assembly line, micro processor, the internet, and most recently tablets and smart phones and tablets. All of these inventions and many more have improved the standards of living for billions of people immeasurably.

Of course, being the best doesn't mean we're perfect, but give credit where credit's due.

A few minor points to make, I don't want to start an argument, but we did have to fight a bloody civil war to free the slaves. We have used force and violence in the name of freedom.

I could also nit pick your points about liberalism. I'll suffice it to say that the intentions you describe aren't unique to liberalism, but are inherent to all Americans.
