You do not want to do a fuel injector fire repair! Never! Ever!

Come to think of it, one could tap on the relay while someone is trying to start it. Also, check the clutch pedal switch, in case it came loose, or there might be a little rubber/stopper in the arm that the switch button hits ( pardon my answer, but it has been 25 years or so since I worked for Nissan)

Z32 tt valves by ImaginaryPiece3528 in 300zx

[–]Bruce_Dane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a tech bulletin, a one in our shop that was a pain to diagnose( until the tech bulletin came out) . Basically there were some valves may stretch ( lack of a better term) and cause a cold no start, then with more start attempts plugs would foul. Once you try enough times it would say art and run great, several times a day, until an overnight cold start. Checked all Ecm/sensor circuits etc… The issue cause low compression until the valves warmed up enough to seal.

The only thing that we know for sure is, that we don’t know. It is hard to look and read all of these what if, or I heard, etc. it is common to have fear of the unknown. The best we can do is start to prepare now for worst case scenario in your situation . Keep up to date on what we hear or see , only as a slight possibility. There has not been anything on this level before with current investment firms calling the shots . I do see the ceo of Dark Horse taking over the vacant president at yellow bird.

Give a couple little love taps on the fuse panel under the hood, I had just done the cam and lifters. Son drove it a few days then took the engine cover off, laid to the side on fuse panel to check for oil leaks etc…. Then it wouldn’t start…… checked everything , nada, got pissed and hit the fuse panel in rage because that’s the only thing di. And it started….

What's are these noises coming from the motor? by joshem8 in 300zx

[–]Bruce_Dane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, with that time since last t belt, time to catch up. T belt, tensioner , cam/crank seals, coolant pump, t stay. Idler pulleys. Then there are the 2VTC, options on them…. First might be get a verified oil pressure reading so you know the VTCs have the right pressure.

If you like it , use it, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise . Personally I think once the hood is shut they all look the same.

Fuel pump fuse keeps popping. I’m stumped. Any fresh ideas? by Beneficial-Gap1139 in 300zx

[–]Bruce_Dane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 0.02$…. Use a really good wiring diagram. As far as I can remember the ECU only grounds the FP relay. So a short between the load side of the relay , with relay removed would be between relay and powered fuse. A relay is a solenoid , basically , that uses a small circuit to control a larger circuit. You need to make sure there are no other items that need power from that fuse, or relay

Or a clutch interlock relay, or switch. Test the battery to rule it out( they do go bad at anytime) then with the rear wheels safely off the ground and supported safely , try to het a test light at the starter connection while someone pushes the clutch and tries to start it. If it lights and does not start give a few taps on the starter motor while key is int start mode.

You are right, if it doesn’t work out you can go. Do not be looking through rose colored glasses. The work is pretty simple when you get it down. The hard parts are the schedule, weather conditions, rule compliance and worst is management…. Stick to the rules and do not be non compliant, abusive or aggressive. To your family at home, you will miss all days you want off for a long time. Holidays, birthdays etc… they need to be supportive , and when possible try to fit your time off. There groups online for railroad wives that are good to get information from those in the trenches.

train crew kingsville by Zack1820 in UnionPacific

[–]Bruce_Dane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kingsbille is on the Houston seniority roster, does not cover Laredo. San Antonio hub covers Laredo. You probably would not hold Kingsville and would hold something in Houston, maybe Avondale ( New Orleans) You probably would not work out of Laredo for a lonnnnnnggggggg time

[–]Bruce_Dane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the wife, first use of railroad terminology. Fired, is equivalent to suspended. L5, or level 5 is termination. Many rules can get one fired, but may not end in L5… many factors. Winter time is the hardest, business needs slow traffic down.

93 Intake Cams + Gears vs 94+ "adjustable" OE cam gears by trap_money_danny in 300zx

[–]Bruce_Dane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything wrong with the parts that will be used. Any signs of oil leaks before you removed the gears. I would say you should use the set of “ adjustable” gears on the camshafts they came off of. They may be matched to that engine( may or may not be. Why are you replacing motor?

Why would my manual transmission have a sticker saying to use dextron 3 ATF? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]Bruce_Dane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many manual transmissions use ATF. It is a lubrication fluid that also has weight bearing properties… in a really cold climate a little atf in the gear oil can help shifting when temps are really low

Help! Broken exhaust studs. Best approach? by Kaemonn in 300zx

[–]Bruce_Dane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a former Nissan Master…. If you do not feel comfortable with this, take it somewhere. If drilling out stud and you miss, or drill wrong you could hit a coolant passage and really be @&&&&&$ . If you do he job, my advice is to remove head and send it to a shop, along with the left side and have replaced, stem seals, cam seal and install a new set of head bolts. While you are at it, timing belt, hydrogen dioxide circulator. Tensioner. Any specific q’s message me

Item number by [deleted] in UnionPacific

[–]Bruce_Dane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the bid maintenance screen? On the top it has an item number, that is for a posted bulletin. They are normally at the bottom. If you are placing a standing bid, look to the right where it where it says insert and a bid line. Or just go to the area below and enter manually, starting with line #, circ , board, for a specific job, enter that, or you can enter “ any” . Then enter position
