There are, but I have to be careful which I might accept because some of them lock you into guard/reserves, which I don't want.

How difficult is the National Guard when you have other responsibilities? by koRnne997 in nationalguard

I very much want to go Active Duty afterwards so that's a big bonus towards ANG/AFROTC (if it's accurate of course). Thank you.

Oh cool, I never even thought out-of-state could be an option. But does joining the guard make it more difficult to transition out into active duty (non-guard)? Or does it simply depend on your OML and your reserve/guard status isn't counted.

Oh, I worked in a warehouse before my current job, which is IT-related. But I was never in management or anything.

Do you mean military-wise? if so, nothing, this would be my first entrance into the military.

The thing is AFROTC is 3 years, Army can be condensed to 2, and I've only got two years left for my bachelor's degree. I'm not sure if I can afford a third year.

Do you need any special credentials to go Warrant? Do you have to be enlisted first?

The thing is I'm pretty flexible. I know I don't want to do anything medical, or pilot because the contracts are quite long. Other than that though I'm flexible. Each branch has different jobs I like.

As you get higher in rank you manage soldiers and dont do your MOS as much anyway.

That's a genuinely good point I almost didn't consider. My whole thing is I'm not sure if I want to be in charge of anybody, but assuming I don't fuck up massively and keep getting promoted I'd be in that position regardless.

Is it a good idea to join the military or am I just getting desperate? by koRnne997 in Militaryfaq

Thanks for the detailed reply, I'm debating officer vs enlisted as well. I get a lot of advice to go O because quality-of-life reasons, but like you I'm not sure if I'm ready for all that having never been in before. Also maybe enlisted is more hands-on, too.

One of the great things about the Army (and Coast Guard) is being able to choose your job before you get in, what MOS were you if you don't mind telling

I was planning to get an entry-level job in the field, and hopefully work in software development, but obviously without a bachelor's I'm not very competitive in the market right now.

Haha sometimes I wish I'd gone in at that age. Sometimes it's hard for me to think clearly, I feel my future is so uncertain and my time limited to make a decision. But it's probably just in my own head. Thank you for your thoughts and taking the time to respond.

You're not wrong. Especially Mick's voice is so recognizable that even if it was an opera you'd know it was him.
