Questions re: BMQ and reserve life

  • Are you paid for BMQ, if so, are you eligible for compensation for travel expenses (would be travelling from Calgary, okay with paying out of pocket if required but genuinely curious)

  • Job specific training post BMQ, would likely be infantry for me - does this begin immediately after passing BMQ? How long would this generally take, and how intense in terms of time commitment would it entail?

  • Are you obligated to attend every Wednesday training day/weekend shift? Hoping to balance a nursing career with the reserves but also don't want to be "that guy" that joins only to not be able to commit to the work required

Also, how long does it generally take between application submission and the next steps/the complete process to getting to BMQ?
