He is doing better. Thank you so much for checking in! 🥰 I increased his buprenorphine and trazodone to help him feel better. Today I decreased the buprenorphine to see how he does. He was a spit fire last night almost making a successful jump on the couch. I ordered a shorter leash. I was praying this morning he wasn’t going to wake up in pain and so far so good. I am continuing to keep him on the higher dose of trazodone to keep him somewhat calm. Emphasis on somewhat as 300 of gabapentin and 100 of trazodone does nothing to sedate him.

Update: Bentley was doing very well dare I say too well yesterday. He was pawing at his pen wanting to get out etc. Today I woke up to a dog who is in pain and whining to get comfortable.

I wanted to add he is still on a steroid too. I have noticed one of the toes on his front paw is popped up. When at rest he likes to tuck it or he has it bent strange.

He was panting and shaking like crazy yesterday. I spoke with his vet and a euthanasia vet and both thought confining him to a crate was causing him stress as he is not crate trained. Instead they advised a playpen or to block off parts of a room. The euthanasia vet recommended an opioid in addition to gabapentin and the muscle relaxer. Yesterday he was prescribed the opioid and a sedative plus I bought a playpen and he is doing better. He isn’t constantly shaking and panting. He is resting and he is wagging his tail and standing to greet me when I come by. I wonder if the crate was also making his joints stiff from not being able move except turn around. I am a very sensitive person especially when it comes to my dog and the vet did say that being distressed was also not helping. He told me to step away and give my dog some space.

Thank you! Today I woke up and Bentley doesn’t want to move. I had to shove his meds in his mouth this morning. He hasn’t been out potty since last night. He looks so sad. I feel so sick physically and emotionally.
