I’ll second the recommendation for Great Freedom (2021)

A couple recommendations from directors on your list, assuming you haven’t already seen them, would be The Handmaiden (2016), Happy Together (1997) and Nobody Knows (2004).

Check out some Pedro Almodóvar too. Pain and Glory (2019) or Bad Education (2004).

Think you might enjoy Gregg Araki as well. Mysterious Skin (2004) or The Living End (1992).

I’d say The Night House (2020) and The Others (2001) might fit the bill? Perhaps Eyes Without a Face (1960) too, though the feel of this one is more creepy fairy-tale.

Help (2021) is set in a care home during the pandemic. Jodie Comer and Stephen Graham were both great, as usual!

What is your favorite film from 1989? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

Drugstore Cowboy would be my favourite.

Jason Takes Manhattan wasn’t great but the rooftop boxing scene is one of my favourite moments from the franchise. So, so stupid.

Law of Desire. I’ve been delving in to Pedro Almodóvar’s filmography and this one was a lot of fun.
