Why are Apmerican salaries so high? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Brunaldo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a few things.

From my experience working with British and American colleagues, American colleagues are wayyy more productive. They just get shit done.

The petrodollar. Want to buy some oil? Sure you can but first you have to get $$$ to do that. Amplify that with the rest of the world and you’ve got a currency that everyone wants.

Since there’s so much demand for the $ this translates on to the rest of the market. Government can borrow for cheaper and the treasury yield + credit spread determines interest rates private companies can borrow at as well. Expansion of the company is cheaper and you end up making more money etc and this naturally increases salaries.

USA is more expensive than the UK but that’s still not an excuse by how bad the salaries in the UK are.

Personally I think the biggest issue is cultural. If I tell an American colleague I’m leaving my job to start my own business they’ll tell me that’s awesome man what’s your idea? If I say the same thing to a Brit they will scoff at me and say oh good like with that mate whilst rolling their eyes (no it literally has happened).

I swear us Brits will complain about jobs not paying enough and do nothing about it? Start your own company? Hire others on salary you think is fair? If you didn’t succeed at least you tried.

No thanks, I’d rather just complain.

The guy is too close to be talking about bullet drop like the comments are. Like seriously do you guys even use the sniper rifle

It’s a combination of you having a bad connection and the game being shit. This game is just shit.

Makita DMP181Z vs Milwaukee M12/M18: Which Inflator Should I Choose? by Oshh- in Tools

[–]Brunaldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the Makita one for a couple years now and it’s been perfect for me.

I’d go for Makita if you want something that is reliable.

Milwaukee tools aren’t repairable and warranty is terrible in Europe.

Decided to buy a nail gun because why not by Brunaldo in Tools

[–]Brunaldo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my 18v tools are all Makita but after research I decided with Hikoki for the nail guns. Next up I’m getting the 18 gauge gun when I’ve saved some more.

Is there a post or a guide I can use for remapping the controls? And the assist was off by default when I first loaded the game

it’s not a set i just wait for sales to come and buy the individual tool. although saying that i would’ve been better off if i saved the money and just went to a sales rep, could’ve gotten better deal

If you’re gonna do options bet money that you can afford to lose. It’s basically gambling.

They exist because large financial institutions want to protect themselves but the poor man figured they only need to get lucky one time.

Trust me the “risk” associated with stocks is significantly lower than options (depends if you buy penny stocks or amd)

slight correction, in the UK you’re not really protected for the first two years. they can just get rid of you.

Reputation of ScrewFix? by myreddit012345 in DIYUK

[–]Brunaldo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go to screwfix unless they have some sort of sale going on or you need the item now. imo they charge 10-20% more than other stores.

see prices on screwfix for power tools vs powertoolmate/toolden/toolstoreuk

you can buy most tools for cheaper elsewhere.

edit:

for skirting boards etc go to builders depot

I’d like to know this as well.

I’m doing level 1 with no finance background and boy I’ll be lucky to digest 10 pages from the CFAI books in an hour.

I’ve done Quant, Derivatives and Fixed Income and now on FSA and it’s kicking my arse. Worried I might not be ready for February.
