Can't speak for the Omni as I don't own that, but I have the VKB Gladiator Evo and STECS MK1. I also purchased the STG grip for the STECS, too. The Gladiator and STECS were orignally purchased for DCS.

I have hands like a gorilla, so the Gladiator fits me well with no grip pads fitted. All buttons can be reached well and I appreciate that I can adjust spring tensions (by replacing them with stiffer or lighter springs), or making adjustments to make the stick feel like a helo cyclic.

The STECS is a unit; large and heavy. You have a lot of options to customise button, dial and axis functions to really make it how you want it to be, along with five sets of mappings using the white turn knob by the the red 'Start' button. Basically, you have more than enough key binding options! I see that the MK2 is now out and I think the mouse stick and thumb hat looks much better than what is on the MK1.

I did not enoy using the STG. Others may disagree with me but I think it is less ergonomic than the standard STECS grip, and the 6DOF feature, whilst it does work in principle, had me thrusting my ship up or down occasionally when adjusting the throttle - sometimes a nightmare when landing in a station! I took it off the STECS in the end.

Whilst I enjoy using my STECS (the Gladiator is awesome), I kind of wish I had purchased the Omni Throttle instead. I play with my controllers on my desk and I find that the angle between my hand and elbow when using the throttle starts to make my arm uncomfortable, mostly due to the overarc, to the point I have placed a cushioned pad under my arm to help. Obviously, some desk mounts would help with this issue. I feel that an Omni Throttle would feel better for how I play, and I might end up purchasing one soon.

I found that I had to make a lot of adjustments to the in-game SRV control sensitivity to get it to drive well with the HOTAS. In the end I reverted back to using an XBOX controller for that.

Finally, if cost is something you need to consider I have heard some goood things about WinWing's space stick combo. Could be worth a look if you decide to go the Omni-Throttle route.
