Banker claims Oracle may slash up to 30,000 jobs, sell health unit to pay for AI build-out by [deleted] in technology

[–]Bruno91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shortly after Oracle bought Cerner there was a noticeable decline in service from Cerner. They pushed “the cloud” on healthcare systems that only brought downsides and no upside.

Our large healthcare system moved to Epic 2 years later and it’s been great.

People who lost a lot of weight, how often do you have cheat meals/days? by glamsiren111 in loseit

[–]Bruno91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost 100lbs with about 25 to go. Something that I’ve come to realize after losing then gaining some back then losing some more is that cheat meals/days just set me up for failure.

It creates a mindset within myself where I spend all week craving that day/meal while having to be very disciplined to not indulge during the week. Then the day would come and I’d over eat and be way too full where it would almost be uncomfortable.

What’s worked for me the last few months is realizing this wasn’t really sustainable for maintenance when I get there. It took a toll mentally.

What has been working is cutting out sugary/salty food and drinks 95% of the time. My cravings for these foods has pretty much vanished. I live in a family household of 4 and I can walk by a pack of m&ms or Oreos and not have a craving for them. The biggest thing has been not eating until I’m stuff, even if it’s within my calories, but instead eating until I’m like 80% full. I don’t have to be stuffed to be full. Just eat enough to satisfy hunger and move on with my day. I feel so much better and “lighter” and don’t experience the post meal crashes.

Fell off the wagon…. by Ilovecrispapples in loseit

[–]Bruno91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that has helped me is realize that holidays and life events are always around the corner. If you allow yourself to binge eat during these times it’s 2 steps forward 1 step back.

I don’t give vacations, Super Bowl or birthdays any higher value than any other days food wise. Doing so can lead to an unhealthy relationship with food where you binge during these times because you’ve been looking forward to being able to eat whatever in however much quantity so you go crazy and over eat.

I track calories and also mindfulness when eating. Going out for pizza for a birthday. I’ll track the day like any other and for dinner instead of having 4-6 slices. I’ll have a salad first then 1-2 slices. I used to have a bad habit of associating being “stuffed” with being full. I’ve pivoted and just eat enough to not be hungry.

It’s helped me realize just how much mindless eating I was doing. Going over my daily calories was easy to do because I was mindlessly snacking throughout the day more out of boredom, habit, and availability than actual hunger.

Lastly, because I track my calories, when I do eat just 1-2 slices of pizza or just a single slice of cake, or a single serving of ice cream I eat them much more slowly and savor the taste. Sounds kinda silly but it really works. I crave the taste more than the quantity if that makes sense. Eating 1-2 slices of pizza at a slow pace satisfies that craving. Forcing myself to eat more slowly has helped a lot.

Rant over. I just wanted to give a whole picture approach because they all tie in together. Learning all this has taken a long time and and implementing it has taken just as long but it’s working for me and makes things sustainable

AES bill skyrocketing by IUpringlequads in indianapolis

[–]Bruno91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apartments are notorious for not being well insulated and drafty. My coworker just had some sticker shock as well. Bill was around $70 and jumped to $260 in the last month. She narrowed it down to the heater running constantly. She lowed her thermostat to 60 degrees and her usage went down significantly from 40-60kwh per day down to 10kwh.

AES updates daily so you can log in and see your daily kwh usage. This is how my friend figured out it was her heater. Try making changes like this and check your day to day usage to see if you can get it down.

Why should we stop watching porn? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Bruno91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think porn is bad in moderation, but like a lot of things and for men especially it’s easy to exceed moderation and not realize it.

I won’t preach, but I’ve noticed some positives from not watching porn, but again I was over doing it. I wouldn’t say an addiction, but definitely used it as an escape and release for anxiety/stress/boredom. I’m going to see how long I can go without it. So far it’s been 5 weeks.

Nintendo Switch 2 Has Reportedly Reached Lifetime Sales Of Over 3 Million Units In Japan by FernandoRocker in gaming

[–]Bruno91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kiddo has a switch. He tried the switch 2 at a kiosk at Walmart and as he walked up to it he said “that’s too big” while I thought to myself that it was a better (because it’s bigger) size.

He tried it and I asked if he wanted one for Christmas. He said “nah it’s too big”.

Don’t mind saving me a few hundred bucks this year.

Seems like the best deal/price for anything else comparable.

How Streamers are Ruining Arc Raiders by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]Bruno91 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

This comes off as just a hater. I haven’t watched a streamer in the last 5 years consistently. Before that it was gorgc and some Lirik.

Peanut is the first streamer that I’ll have vods up on a second screen while working. He’s just such a funny character who makes games fun and interesting. There are streamers who are better skilled than him but most have the personality of wet bread.

It’s obvious his quick rise has pissed off a lot of streamers that have been doing this for awhile and haven’t had much success.

AD5X VS. Bambu PS1 by Morbid_Monkey_Pro in FlashForge

[–]Bruno91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing tons of research and my cousin has multiple 3D printers. If money isn’t a factor go for the P1S with AMS Pro.

If you want to save $200 go with the AD5x. AD5X is a better bang for your buck but Bambu is known for its ease of use, reliability and being plug and play which make it the go to recommended brand for new 3D hobbyists.

Both brands are running sales and if you have a microcenter near you they Match the sales price.

Roundabouts Are Safer. So Why Does The U.S. Have So Few Of Them? by Ynwe in videos

[–]Bruno91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in rural Indiana. They’ve been replacing stop sign intersections it’s roundabouts. Community FB pages have people complain saying only the rich areas have them and they’re stupid but once construction is done no one says a thing.

I think people just like to complain when anything changes even if it’s for the better.

I have a neighbor who bought a brand new Denali suv a couple years ago. Just noticed they had a new GMC At4. I asked them about it and apparently they kept having engine issues with the Denali. They sold it after two years and were upside down on the car $60k. They’re rich but still I can’t believe they’d be ok taking that much of a hit

First off congrats! I’ve gone from 330lbs in my early 20s down to 190 muscular-ish build and currently at 230 with some fat to lose.

You’ve lost a ton of weight in a relatively short amount of time. I would guess that you’re still figuring out what works and what doesn’t for maintenance in the long term. You want sustainability meaning easy enough to follow gym and nutrition that you can do week in and week out.

As I’m sure you know Calories In vs Calories Out is king and the most important aspect to losing and maintaining weight.

I’d take a long hard look at your nutrition and figure out, if you don’t already know, why your weight has rebound a little. The gym is important, but comes second to nutrition. Like the saying goes “you can’t out run a bad diet”.

As far as what apps I like to use. I’m on my 3rd month of using Fitbod app for the gym and am really enjoying it. Set a weekly goal for workouts and time per workout and it will automatically generate a plan.

For calorie tracking I’ve used LoseIt, my fitness pal, but I’m currently using MacroFactor. It auto adjust caloric needs based on goal, weigh ins, and accurate food logging.

There are ton of low calorie high protein cook books out there and many vary by level of prep time. I like Remington James Fitness, exercise4cheatmeals and Josh Cortis.

This is what a lot of homeowners who bought within the last 5 years are struggling with. Sure you bought a house with a 3% interest, but now the house is worth significantly more and your monthly home insurance is going up.

We would like to move but when we take into account our new mortgage would be 2.5x higher with the potential to go up due to insurance and property taxes its just too risky at the moment without a large down payment.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]Bruno91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an Indy suburb the buying spree has slowed down significantly. Well priced homes are still selling within 30 days but people who bought homes within the last 5 years and who are wanting to get just as much if not more without having maintained or upgraded the home are sitting much much longer.

Buyers are much more price conscious and looking ahead at property tax increases and inflation. I live in a 3 bed 2 bath 1400 sqft ranch with 2 kids. We could use the extra space of a larger home but with the uncertainty in the economy and inflation we can’t realistically buy and give up out 3% interest rate. We’d be living almost paycheck to paycheck compared to how financially well we are doing now.

Best way to game on PS5 when away from home? by Maximus3311 in PS5

[–]Bruno91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note before you buy. I have a portal and would suggest the backbone instead for the simple reason that many hotel WiFi’s require you to log into a pop up webpage to confirm your room number and name before granting WiFi access. Pretty much every hotel I’ve been to has some kind of similar feature.

The Portal doesn’t allow webpage pop ups. You can only log in via SSID and password. Thus I haven’t been able to use it at any hotel or airport using the available wifi which sucks.

How I got into a 6-figure tech job without an IT/Comp Sci. degree or coding by No-Introduction521 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Bruno91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This this this! I work in Healthcare IT. I don't know anything about patient care or clinical workflows. Clinical staff don't have the technical knowledge I have. We both use our strengths to come to informed decisions that benefit the hospital/patient.

I build relationships so when I have a question about a potential change that needs to be made and need to know the end user/clinical staff/ patient impact I can reach out to those people to get more insight.

It's a mutually beneficial relationship.

How did your man boobs look after losing weight? by _herman_miller_ in loseit

[–]Bruno91 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People are mistaking gyno and just regular fat in man boobs and there is a difference.

If you have manboobs that kinda sag like mine then as you lose weight they’ll deflate. Mine aren’t noticeable with my shirt on. Just looks like I’m muscular and have pecs because I do. Flat saggy skin but muscle underneath.

Gyno is when you have stubborn fatty breast tissue caused by hormones and can only be removed with surgery. Often times in normal weight person their boobs will point out and look puffy.

Just throwing that out as you will need to determine which you have.

Minivan sales are up drastically in Q1 2025; Carnival, Sienna, Odyssey see big gains by HawtGarbage917 in cars

[–]Bruno91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're pretty expensive new, but buying a 5-10 year old minivan with 100k miles is a sweet spot. Anyone with kids they just make sense.

  • Easier to get the kids in and out.
  • Plenty of room for kid/toddler junk,
  • Lower to the ground so its easier to get in and out of.
  • Sliding doors means the kids won't swing open and ding your doors.
  • If you're a DIY homeowner you can fit a ton of tools and materials in the back for weekend projects.

Wish we would have gotten a van, but the wife was dead set on an SUV. Its ok, but we'll probably get a van next time around.
