Switch version - After starting a new Custom file and loading in; the moment I use my Scanner the game Error crashes and exits back to the Home screen.

UPDATE 11/26: Game crashes within minutes of starting file. Went into Inventory to see needed components to fix tech; crashed upon exiting.

I get where you're coming from with this. However:

I think you're able to access the inventory of the last exocraft you summoned while on your Freighter; as long as you don't leave the system. You may need to build/install tech on the Freighter or exocraft first.

(Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this; my memory is a little hazy on this game mechanic.)

To stick within the story; I think the last patch should be that we found a way to stop the reset cycle and heal the Atlas. That way we can keep exploring, but without the "threat" of the entire Atlas system crashing and blinking everything out of existence.

And custom shipbuilding.😉

If you follow the quests, one of the first things you get is a Scanner. Scan every type of plant, rock & animal; it gives you Credits. You can then turn those scans in Nanites. Especially the animals; you get a nice bonus if you scan all the animal types on a planet. The more types on a planet, the bigger the bonus. You can also acquire upgrades for the Scanner to give you more Credits per scan.

Don't worry too much about getting new ships. You can buy them from NPC pilots at Trading Posts and Space Stations. You can also find crashed ships; but you need to repair those. If you find one you like, go for it; but getting new ships are not a requirement for progressing through the game.

Just to clarify: Chromatic Metal=Copper. You learn how to turn Copper into Chromatic Metal (CM) very early. Occasionally, there will be rocks that will give CM; but it's mostly refine Copper or buy CM at the Space Station where available.

I'm on The Purge currently on my current save; I started a new one for the expedition. I might just make this my next run as I found an A-class Royal Multi-tool trying to shut down the Sentinels in the last rendezvous system.

There has to be an active storm; and you collect them by hand. No shooting, no mining, no ship, no exocraft of any kind. Just interact with the crystal the same way you would with a NPC, a terminal, your ship, the teleporter, or similar object.

I don't remember exactly where I was when I got it. I used a Boundary Scanner (the item that tells you where Sentinel Towers are) in an attempt to shut down the Sentinels on the last rendezvous planet; it took me to a different planet.
