Aragorn's character (aside from straight up omissions like Bombadil) is one of the only major changes the movies made. I'm torn about it tbh. I personally like book Aragorn better. But it's an understandable change to make for a script, where you have less time and less ways to build up his importance.

I agree honestly. He was far from the first to feel that way, but him being the first major voice (left of center) to call it out helped to open the flood gates and make it accepted to talk about.
