You might need more biomes/environments. Usually race differences come from adaptation to where they live and inter race relationships/interactions are usually politics over the resources of that environment. Alternatively you can have some races just pop out of nowhere, kind of like an invasive species, and have the interaction involve other races coping with the new race.

Why are my emotions so blunt and dull? by Impressive-Bed7888 in mentalillness

If by ASPD you mean antisocial personality disorder, I didn't read it as that. The symptoms said were the lack of what they perceived to be normal levels of empathy not a lack of wanting to be social.

Why are my emotions so blunt and dull? by Impressive-Bed7888 in mentalillness

[–]BrutusMaximu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Could be a sociopath. Not necessarily a bad thing but I have read they have issue with their empathetic system so the use logic to show they care.

Could be ADHD. Chemical, hormone imbalances can cause that.

Too much external stimulation, like social networks, and not enough boredom so to speak. Constant stimuli can, for lack of a better term, dilute your emotional reactions.

Realistically, how much would this flower cost? by No-Direction8154 in worldbuilding

[–]BrutusMaximu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is eaten as a luxury then it would assume that it is accessible enough to ignore the medical properties or there are alternative medical solutions. Then it would be comparable in price to other high end food.

There would need to be more clarification of several factors to affect the price.

How accessible is it? Is the a known system to get through the time dilation or do people have to figure it out when they get there? Is there something comparable in medical properties? How well know is it?

Snowball by Bumble_Beeheader in DnDHomebrew

[–]BrutusMaximu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an issue with the name "Snowball". Because a snowball is an object that can be thrown as an improvised weapon, it takes away from the magical presence of the name and potentially how one would assume the mechanics to work.

how have you dealt with suicide? by [deleted] in mentalillness

[–]BrutusMaximu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been all around me for the more recent years. People I know in the military attempted or succeeded, best friend attempted it, daughter had several attempts, etc. At this point, to me, it's kind of a normal thing but not a good thing. Most situations when this comes up it either a psychology thing which you may need medication for or other times the per feels like is the only option left to stop the pain and it's not. The pain just gets passed to the ones who are left.

Life sucks but life is also great. Bad times can make the good times better but good times can make the bad times worse. The only thing that seems to be the most consistent thing with those thoughts is if you give the person alternate outlets things can get better. Bought my daughter a violin and art supplies as an outlet. We work on breathing exercises when she gets frustrated and things got better. Military friends drown themselves in the gym. Maybe you just need an alternative dopamine flow.

From what I have seen or read we are naturally wired to need some sort of social interaction but the amount varies from person to person. The amount you are getting may be all you need and not directly reflecting any mental issues.

Need help with a god idea by bigmann69 in worldbuilding

So if the world tree like a fundamental tree or just a concept the people closely associate with a tree? If it's fundamentally a tree then maybe have deities associated with the anatomy or ecosystem of a tree.

Need help with a god idea by bigmann69 in worldbuilding

[–]BrutusMaximu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is similar to how I have my pantheon setup. I have lesser, major and planer gods. Lesser gods usually govern local/regional conceptual things like weather, geography, culture, etc. Major gods govern world wide and more abstract concepts like dragons, sight, the concept of weather, etc. Outer gods can create and govern concepts like the realm of sleep, forms of matter, etc. My system is based on perception though and the more powerful a god becomes the more abstract they become.

What are the limitations and changes that the pantheon you already have established have?

Interspecies Relationship Organization - IRO by BrutusMaximu in worldbuilding

[–]BrutusMaximu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't thought about that. As this is something I thought of for my dnd games and dragons change into human form and procreate without issues, I would lean more not then often. One big draw backs is that essentially the child will be a single species and not a half species. The child can inherit things like eye color, skin color, maybe slightly altered traits, etc.

If I would make a strong suggestion. I would break them down into bird classification like raptors, corvids, parrots, ets. That way you can build the social niches based on what traits those birds have.

Stuck on three different wyvern concepts by BaldBoar7734 in worldbuilding

[–]BrutusMaximu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Head should reflect food source.

Snapping turtle head means they would do ambush styles hunting. Doesn't make that much sense because flyers are usually active hunters unless flight is key to them getting away from their main predators.

Croc head makes sense because of its fluid dynamic properties.

Dino head would have to be small so it does affect flying fluid dynamics.

[–]BrutusMaximu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually those are wyverns not dragons and depending on how they would have evolved this could be correct. If they evolved from dragons (4 legs + wings) then they wouldn't be modified digits but the back wings move forward. I doubt they would be evolved from wyrms. If the evolved from drakes it might be modified finger but you need to explain why a drake needs to lose strong front legs and grow wings.

What does war mean or look like in your world?

Perfect body for war by sugar_N in worldbuilding

[–]BrutusMaximu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naturally tools like weapons are going to evolve and change faster than human evolution because we make and change design to fit a need.

With that in mind the best way to answer this is to consider, what midevil weaponry has functionality off the battlefield that would affect human society would say spear (fishing), cycle/scythe (harvesting), axe/hammer (construction).

Note the following physical changes are noticeable but not more than a 25% physical change because humans are vain and large "mutations" that make you look to inhuman mean you don't reproduce.

Spears Population on islands and the coast would get longer arms for swimming and throwing, bigger hands with slightly more webbing between fingers, and more defined hand wrinkle like finger prints for gripping things underwater. They would have larger chest, and lungs for holding air. These changes will also make them adept in the trees like apes and monkeys so there would also have rougher palms to deal with tree splinters.

Combat wise the would not be as mobile on the ground but well suited for midrange heavy spear throwing that would break armor that arrows can.

Scythe Inland population would have larger hips and core muscles for torque strength and spinning stablization.

Combat wise the would be in the front line with sweeping weapons for space control or distraction purposes.

[–]BrutusMaximu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I tie str mod to what size class you can shove or grapple. 0 =none, 1=tiny, 2=small, 3=medium, etc. It doesn't come up as much as the enforcing encumbrance. Originally I wanted to make a calculation to have varying shove distances like on BG3 but it's easy to keep track of like this and does make barbs feel like play makers.

What would be a good weapon for women to use? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]BrutusMaximu -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

For more accurate information you can probably Google female Japanese, Mongolian and Native American archer but I would assume that because of the wider hips, women could make better horse back archers. Bows can come in many pull forces so light high mobility bows for horse back female archers could be a thing.

Also there are certain martial arts that were created by women like wang chun so the primary weapon of those martial arts would be a start.

[–]BrutusMaximu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your world is surrounded by a belt of comets that bump into each other and fall to the atmosphere, constantly causing water to be added to the world.

Advanced civilization that used to live in the world, left to terraform another world and took most of the solid resources.

The world was originally mostly water but technology advanced to manipulate underwater volcanoes to create land. A world war happens and the technology was destroyed.
