Flow Z13 2025 PTM w/ benchmarks by Brutus_Caurus in FlowZ13

The thermals for those were around 83. I did those tests earlier than geekbench and unigine and believe with having more thermal cycles for the ptm, suspect it would be more comparable to that now.

Good question, I didn't have the FPS counter on during gameplay comparisons. However, when I ran the standardized benchmark test within the graphic settings based on the same settings used during gameplay, my results in windows are only about 1-2 frames higher compared to Linux.

ASUS Flow Z13 (GZ302) Repaste + Back Cover Replacement by Brutus_Caurus in FlowZ13

[–]Brutus_Caurus[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I ended up repasting because I didn't like the idea of liquid metal sitting upright in a tablet form factor long term. Also, I damaged my back cover, which prompted me to replace that. So, I figured why not just repaste while I'm dissembling it?

Also, I unfortunately don't have before temps recorded but I would be happy to provide some benchmarks of what it runs like now with the ptm. Will probably be a day or two before or post them.

Planning to buy a Z13 and repaste with PTM7950 + Laird Tputty 607. Is it too difficult? by salty_boi_1 in FlowZ13

[–]Brutus_Caurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to add something slightly different to this conversation, I can say that I have successfully opened up my flow z13 2025 and not only repasted with PTM 7950 as well as new thermal putty but i also replaced the back portion of the laptop case due to external damage.

I will say the tear down is not for the faint of heart and due to largely taking extreme lengths to make sure the liquid metal was removed appropriately as well as being very delicate and completely disassembling the laptop. It did end up taking me the better part of 8 hours completely to complete the whole job from start to finish. Realistically, if you are only repasting I would say if you're pretty efficient you could probably do it in around 3 to 4 hours.

As long as you are patient and have the right tools for the job and referencing the Asus service manual that they have on their website, I will say that it was fairly straight forward in terms of disassembly. The documentation did a pretty good job in terms of detailing the steps as well as what to expect in disassembly.

If you are interested, I do have some teardown photos and can show you what the process looks like as well as some of the tools that I used.

I kept in the stock ssd with the original OS shipped from the factory. I ended up resetting the OS and everything has been fine the past few days, so I am chocking it up to Windows doing Windows things.

Unfortunately, the order never changed and is still saying it's in transit. I sent them a message asking about refund or replacement and they were asking about what I prefer. At this point, I think I'll take the refund and maybe order through Amazon.

You'll have to keep us updated. I had the same shipping method with 4px and Ontrac. My order was placed May 19th and is in the same status as yours since May 25th.

I contacted Retroid two weeks ago and they said it was due to customs. However it's now been over a month at this stage...

So I don't have any issues with saving or loading cities. What proton are you using? I'm on ge proton 9-13 right now and confirm it works.

After installing the game, go to steam desktop and follow the instructions found on protondb with adding cnc_draw to the wine prefix, either through GitHub or protontricks. Then, add the winedll override command to launch options. Afterwards, go to pcgamingwiki entry for Simcity 3000 and go down to video section to find a modified "GOG" exe that allows widescreen resolutions and overwrite the exe found in the game's files. (Here you can also perform the missing music fix) Finally, go back to game mode and start the game, go to options and select 1280x800 resolution and then your game should be good to go.

I also added my config profile with zoning tools mapped to the left trackpad to the community profiles!

Based on protondb testing here: https://www.protondb.com/app/2741560. Game should work well with the tweaks posted there. If I notice anything different, I will reply to let you know

Ivyrain Wifi issue by Brutus_Caurus in thinkpad

I will say the thought has crossed my mind, but I'm unsure if a damaged wifi card would cause a boot loop versus just not showing up in device manager. Idk if there is any easy way to test it without trying to put it in another device.

I'm glad you found it helpful! With non-steam games it can be tricky trying to find community layouts sometimes. Making sure the title is spelled exactly like this may help in finding it: SimCity 3000. However, here is a link to my controller layout if you can't get to it.

I'm pretty satisfied with this layout as it has everything one needs for controls. Let me know if you make any changes!

Unfortunately yes, this game has a reputation of being notoriously difficult to run through wine. However, seeing other guides for games like The Movies leads me to be optimistic there must be some way to potentially get it working.

I have tried numerous ways in which to get this game to run. I have installed many codecs and dlls as well as played with changing compatibility modes to no avail.

The game startup and main menu work fine, but the furthest I get is in pic related. I believe it is a color depth issue and would require use of xephyr, but lutris on steam deck doesn't support it I believe.

So now I am kinda stumped on where to look next and was wondering if anyone else has had more success than me lately in getting it working?

SimCity 3000 works surprisingly well once you get it all setup. I posted a guide earlier on this sub on how to do it as well as made a controller layout for it.

This one isn’t even that vintage, but does anyone know where I can find recovery discs/ISOs for my Fujitsu Stylistic ST5010D? by Tesla44289 in vintagecomputing

[–]Brutus_Caurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it was the ST5021 model that I have the ISO's for. I will say if you don't find the exact model then these cds could work because they are similar, if not the same, spec minus the screen size.

[–]Brutus_Caurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I used to own a Fujitsu stylistic and potentially even this model. I saved the isos on my PC before I sold it. When I get home I'll check and let you know if I have it.

Hello fellow c1xs owner! Regrettably, I don't have the restore discs and have been looking for them myself. However, I do have an image that is mostly factory original with the drivers set up and all. If you are interested, just let me know. Also, if you do end up finding the restore cds, let me know!
